That sucks Carl.....as good as it sounded I figured you was on your way.....I think you are handling this better than I would.... sorry for the setback... Vergil
Carl, I've got as 3x2 base, that bolts right on the 4-71, if you want to keep that look when you go with the huffer. I'll loan it to you- be a few years until I can use it!
Humm sounds like a deal to me Buddy............ yep Virg we are pulggin away, almost got the other block stripped, now just have to get to work and make it happen, years ago I would have got pissed and threw something through the garage door but age has its benefits and now I just look it as another day another dollar another lesson to not listen to those who say its ok, course I was trying my damnest to save another piece of history, but hell we'll just make our own ................. thats what I keep spare parts for
Is there a possibility the water could have got there from the head gasket? Had some old aluminum heads once that didn't seal well around the water passages.
I'm with you Carl! Sorry to hear about your Flathead, but as you say, just start all over. Hopet to see you and the dragster at Mokan in august. Br Kjell ............................... Taildragger&fenderless
Well nother stage to go through.......will blockroc the rest of block and heads and run alky on this block that will give me time to prep the other block correctly and in the mean time have been helping a buddy on his 21 stud.................. Kinda like this next pic, it says it all and this to keep ya guessing........ Soon Jim soon...................
Now that really sucks - but you have a good positive attitude, just what it takes to fix it! Can't remember, was the block sleeved? Were you into water where the sleeve was used? If so, that could easily be it. Dale
Always sucks to waste time needlessly, but your positive attitude helps. Thanks for sharing those pictures. Love your shop, and all those tools! Good luck on the next one.
Yea Tim the crank was the cats ass, exactly perfect grind!!!! you do great work man!!!!! Dale yea I was into the water jacket big time but thought I could seal it so you know .............. besides I always wanted to try alky anyway......... anyone have some old alky carbs???????? The 21 studder has some bling on it will show pics ..........later......... thanx Greaser we just keep pluggin on............
Just came in from another late night.. Carl, thanks again for your help... Tim, here are a couple shots and hopefully the next one will be a start up video...
That is one nice looking Modell A Oh Carl, your garage is also very, very nice. K .................................... Taildragger&fenderless
