Semmes Motor Co. was formed in 1919 by brothers Raphael and Charles Semmes when the Congressional Garage Co., Semmes-Kneessi Co., and Semmes Motor Line merged. The new company primarily sold vehicles manufactured by Dodge, but also offered vehicles made by Hudson, Wilcox, and Vim. Its showroom was located at 1132 Connecticut Avenue, NW (demolished; current site of the 12-story office building 1130 Connecticut Avenue) and the garage was located at 613 G Street, NW (demolished; current site of the Verizon Center).

So if that's the only building, we know the answer now!

ANZAC Day is rapidly approaching, 25 April a time to commemorate lost mate's and the sacrifice so many gave simply by serving their country in conflict.
The only day I celebrate (Not really the right word there?) every year. Screw easter, christmas, birthdays and such shit.

The new "Stalker's Delight Deluxe headlight(s) kit". No more pesky stops by the Police when you are stalking someone!
With the new "Stalker's Delight Deluxe headlight(s) kit" you simply choose which headlights to start following your stalkee with and when you think that you've been spotted... simply pull over, turn off a set of headlights and selection a different set of headlights!
From the stalkee's point of view there is a different set of headlights following them now, it can't be the same car. With a lare selection of headlight arrangements you can follow someone all night long without being detected.

I joke about it, but I sure hope that my sister's ex-b/f doesn't see this picture. He'll actually do it so he can stalk her more often than he already is! We're just hoping that he hasn't figured out a way to change the appearance of his vehicle at a moments notice so that he can pass by her house more often without having to borrow vehicles.

It was my privilege to work with several aussies in our squadron in VN. I'm curious about the relatively low amount of web and other load-bearing gear seen in these pics.

    Unlikely as it's left-hand steering.
And the plate is not a NZ one.

    :DALTERNATE CAPTION - "Alas,
poor Betty. She was well-bred and
came from a good family, but she
was always such a fool when it
    came to men and relationships.
    In Particular, she always, always,
always, fell for any guy wearing
a nice suit who drove a '34 Ford!
According to her - and for reasons
    that she couldn't comprehend or
    explain herself, even - despite
    fawning innocence, she somehow,
just couldn't ever seem to resist
    any male attention and temptation,
no matter how sordid, craven or
wanton it always turned out to be,
    when that
    'male attention and
    temptation'
    came wrapped up in
    a nice suit and driving a '34 V8
    Ford!!!

Howard Lee Griswold (1878-1955) built the automobile shown in this photograph for the president of the Columbus Railway, Power and Light Company in the early 1900s. Griswold is seated in front with his wife Cora (1884-1949). This early example of a homemade machine shows the conversion of a large farm wagon body with wheels propelled by a belt and flywheels.Howard Lee Griswold completed correspondence courses in electrical and mechanical engineering from International Correspondence Schools in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Idyllic cabinet-card photograph from over a century ago. Wow.
Looks as though these fine folk were out for a holiday excursion
to take in natural beauty. The spot was/is called Rock Gate,
near Utterwalder Grund in Saxon, Switzerland. Prolific FlickR
member JosefNovak33 posted this, along with the enlarged de-
tails below. Can someone who reads German translate? This
spot is apparently in a national park.

Then-and-Now! ;) Drake Goodman, also of the FlickR community, demonstrates
that Rock Gate is still idyllic and fascinating today!
