windy, all the time, yes. cold, not always but a lot of it, when it's hot it's hot. as the old saying goes for the Texas Panhandle, "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it'll change"

I like that photo too Roy, looks like the chute is 30 yards behind him. Plus the rear shot of a 64' is a awesome sight sporting tall narrow rubber!! Al

Lou Zangara is a good friend of mine, back in the day factory race cars were just OLD race cars. He had the car For Sale and it didn't sell but someone later wanted the High Riser engine he took the 427 and trans out and sold it. Later some one bought the AFX car body. Lou stopped by a couple of months later to see how it was going, the new owners Wife told Lou that her Husband Died. So Lou helped her sell the AFX Comet again. The New Owner had it taken a place to have work done and repainted and lettered GOLDEN COMET. In the mean time some switched the Axles and Detroit Locker from 31 splines and replaced them with 28 splines, the owner didn't know. Later that year at Detroit Dragway power shifting second gear the left Axle Broke you see what happened. The engine and trans and useable parts were saved, the body was scraped they didn't care about the Comet at all. I do have part of the front fender in my passiton As far as I know that is the only piece that remains. ~~~~~~AFX DAVE~~~~~~

As far as I know, Dan ands Joe Weis was the original owner. The car was mentioned in a few times in the Ford Weekly Summary of Performance Events, two other names mentioned were LLoyd Tally and Roland Millican. No idea where the car went after this.

    Regards,
    Dennis

That pic of Dyno Don's car looks like it has the bare aluminum centered Cragars.

Falcons and Fairlanes coming to Auction.
From the FE Forum. I'm sure there are some guys who will find the cars interesting. Several have had chassis work done (pics in the 60s range), and may be of help to the fellow who wrecked his Fairlane a few months ago.

Eddie, How did you make out with the new hedders?

  29. Merrit:

Kenny's car was the one that went to Jardine's, Still there, hoping to pick it up soon. I've been busy on my 64 Galaxie and a 67 Mustang Fastback project at the shop.
