47 pickup custom dash

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by metal surgeon, Mar 30, 2012.

  1. Hey all,
Finished the dash in my mates 47 chevy pickup today, Its been sitting at my shop for near on a month and was the " Fill in " job... needless to say i have had no time to "fill in" so i did not get to it till late this week, I'm pretty happy with it so I thought I'd share with everyone.
If I where to do it again i'd pop the gauges in a little higher and fit the top a little nicer.
Pretty obvious but we used a '61 impala boot lid for the major top construction
The switch pods are '60 Falcon
The glove box door and frame where made by hand
Column is from a late model aussie car stripped back and sleeved with a piece of stainless
Quickly made him a trans tunnel as a supprise too :)

What do you think of it?

someones gotta say it,, so here goes....

You put it in backwards,, the steering and gauges go on the other side.

I like it a lot, good use of a fertile imagination!

  4. Bahah Knew that was coming!! thanks guys

  5. if youse guys were to learn how to flop the photos . we could just start with the praise of the job well done.

If you had told of using the Impala piece without the pictures, there may have been a few "Oh, No!''s. With the pics all you will hear are "Oh, Yes!"s. Looks great.

  11. Iknow I Know, we're backwards in going forwards over here

Yeah agreed! I had my doubts too... specially because we came up with the idea in a junkyard after a hard night on the booze

Goes to show drunken ideas can be good...? maybe.?..

this is cool! are you going to build a trim piece for below the column though? Otherwise, VERY NICE!

  14. Yes there has been a leather piece that moves with the column made for there.
