Features 1961 Chevrolet BelAir/Biscayne/Impala pic request

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by belairbubble, Oct 1, 2009.

  1. Taken at Cecil County Drag O Way located in northeast MD just south of the PA line.

Given the emblems on the grille and trunk as well as the three carbs on a stock manifold, I think you cud safely say it's a 348. Nice!

For what its worth approx 177,00 sport coupes were made in 61, of those about 15,000 were Bel Air's, of these approx 7,500 were V8's.

re the comment about the 90's before they were popular.

I have always believed the 61 Bel Air Sport Coupe was the most stylish vehicle GM built. Not over done, not under done, the Impala was better value at just approx $140.00 more, but hell they put too much crap on it, and in fact made it a little gaudy.

    I had a 61 4 door Bel Air in 1979 ( 427 & T400), and it took me 25 years to get a sport coupe.

Keep going on that project, It will be great, by the way if you can get a copy of the book " CHEVY SUPER SPORTS 1961 - 1976", there is a great photo of a couple 61's racing in the day, even a Bel Air Sport Coupe.

You ask that on a '61 thread? You plan on hanging out here, you do an Introduction in the designated area.

Not mine, but wish...I do still have a tail and reverse lens from my dad's '61 Nomad wagon, plus the build order sheet and owner's manual. '61 is my favorite early Impala year.
