Ive really tried to hold off on this, but I have finally given in. Would one (or more) of you talented people lend your talents to this chrysler? Anything will be appreciated.

    Rot n' kustom,
Thanks! I think it the chop/ stretch looks good. I had thought about adding some length to the doors but am intimidated by cutting good doors with the price it would cost for me to replace them if things go bad. The back cab panels are reproduced to your own chosen length up to 12" and i was thinking it would be a cheaper and safer route. I am thinking I might pursue stretching the doors. If it wouldn't be too much trouble do you think you could maybe add 2"-3" to the cab along with the stretched doors? My theory is with the cab a little stretched I would still have a little cushion for my back and it would have a some lumbar support and not be totally flat. Thanks!

  7. Paint, Chrysler wires, lowered the back some more, added WWWs and deleted the rear vent windows.

    Awesome car!

Here is the cab with a back stretch. I have about doubled the length from the door edge back. You can see there are now two rectangular moulding panels to give you an idea of the length. Not sure how many inches this would be. And, of course, the bed keeps getting shorter!

The proportions are starting to get a little awkward, but this gave me an idea how to resolve it. I'll have to find some new photos to work with.
    Stay tuned!

Cool man thanks! Looks real cool. It gives him some great ideas. Would anyone be willing to try the grey with a white top just to see how it would look?

    Thanks

I found this one while looking for some pics to work with.
Has a stretched cab, and the bed-to-cab-to-engine ratio looks pretty good.
No information is provided, but judging by the front rails it may be a purpose-built chassis. If so, it could be extra-long.

Anyone care to try a chop on my 34 Ford 5w Coupe? I would like to place it on the ground with a typical Lakester rake ( 8.20s rear & 5.00s front). Want to try a 4 inch chop (rear) and a 5 inch chop (front). Front A pillar should have a slight rearward angle and roof should also have a slight downward angle at the A pillar. Color should be glossy Black.

Trying for an agressive, yet functional, Lakester style chop that is still driveable on the street. Thanks, Joe

Awsome, indeed! I really like this one.

It's amazing what a little altitude adjustment coupled to minor cleanup and a killer wheel-and-tire combo will do.

I used to find Chryslers of this era to be too stodgy to even consider.
Just a few years ago, I actually passed on a very clean '54 sitting behind a body shop that was going out of business and needed to move stuff cheap. It hurts to think about, now!

1954 Chrysler Club Coupes (2 door post) are pretty rare, too.

  14. I was going to ask what it was, I can´t think that I´ve ever seen one like it.

You could roll up in a car like this absolutley anywhere and be totally accepted (excepting maybe a Chrysler restorers club meeting!).

JD, Nice touch! ...just enough, & not too much! Very Classy, one of those "How the factory should have built it in the first place" re-styles!

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. The stock raised panel on the back of the cab is 5 1/2" wide and the whole panel is like 9" from door to back of the cab. I don't think 2" - 3" will look too bad. I will prob keep the bed the length around the length of the first picture I posted, it looks like it was already shortened

This truck is +4" in the cab and that looks a little heavy to me.

I tried messing with it on paint (first attempt so be easy on me). I don't think it looks too bad. Just have to figure out dimensions.

Nice - I like your version better than mine!
Definitely needs the wheelbase stretched if you want to keep the bed long.

Sometimes these design exercises get out-of-hand.

When I was playing with pugh443's Model A photo, the stretched and chopped proportions of the cab reminded me of an another design I have always liked: the classic era Proulx Packard Victoria Touring Coupe. These cars were close-coupled sports models. Short compact body combined with a long hood and usually a touring trunk and maybe spare tires at the rear.

So I found a photo of a partially restored Model A pickup and went to work. I was going to add a touring trunk which would look good, I think , but decided to keep the shortened bed for a more hot-rod feel.

    Here tis:

MATACONCEPTS- You kind of have to approximate in Photoshop. These are as close as I could get to a 3" and 5" by eyeballing it. Hope it works for ya. The first pic is the way it is now, then 3", then 5"

I often have the same pb. One suggestion would be that ppl wanting a top shop give the height of the front or side glass, as a reference.

Agreed. Proportioned quickly (and toned gaudy yellow tint), rather than re-hash a b/w. Also a twofer. ;)

Loved the photoshop James did but hated the white truck
