I see theres a 57 Cadillac Hubcap thread, I've never liked those :)eek:), so I figured I'd start a thread on one of the most elegant hubcaps to be produced. They were the most popular hubcap choice on the best era of customs, late 40s early 50s. They will give a car that elegant, smooth, tasteful, expensive look... and that is what customizing is all about!

Post pictures of your cars with them on, old pictures with cars wearing them, or whatever!

Is there anybody repopping these. I have been looking for a set but I run into the 1957 style. I would love to get some for the box.

Nice chop! Is there a build thread somewhere on the HAMB showing how you did it? If not, please post one.

For those that don't know, it's the '49 GMC built by Gil Ayala and was in Hop Up Magazine in '53.

I replaced the Stude hubcaps on the Jerkury with Sombreros. My fav-o-rite hubcaps.

Post some pics of your car Jeff!!

Isn't it funny how if somebody was to build a truck inspired by the Ayala shop truck, most would criticize the grille of being 'not traditional'? :D

Sorry for the big pic but it just came up that way.

51 Streamliner.... thanks for the compliment on the last pic.

I do think that these are the most gorgeous hubcaps ever. They just flatout flow with sleds.

These caps are for sure one of the most gorgeous. Early Lions Caps and 'real' Ribbed Hollywood Flippers are up there with them though.

I just noticed there wasn't a thread dedicated to these caps, and thought it would be a good excuse to bring some real customs back onto the board. ;)

  23. Thanks Bubba :) , I love Sombreros but I have to correct myself........the original flipper is pretty much the Rocky Marciano of hubcaps.......Undefeated.
