OP fails to mention which flavor of hemi and even if it is Mopar - although the reference to O'Brien Truckers valve covers would lead one to the conclusion that it is an early Mopar hemi. That having been said silver goes with everything....
it is a 354 chrysler ind 1957 hemi, will try and post a picture, i plan on putting it in a 32 ford roadster old school
You mentioned green, I painted my '57 392 'Detroit deisel green'. I like it. Painted my '58 392 in the original color.
A DeSoto with Chrysler valve covers? Looks like a Chrysler to me, DeSoto's had wet intakes. Paint it to compliment your ride. Silver is good. Black is too GM for me, plus it kind of hides the details of the engine. Orange may completely clash with your ride, especially if you're running an open engine compartment.
I am the original poster, here is the picture of my hemi intake and valve covers, i will also be adding a aluminum timing cover and valley pane to match the covers, i am leaning towards black, i have red fuel lines also to go with it, the stuff is sitting on one of my spare engine a 331 not my 354 i am building
I think your engine looks very nice too with those black covers covers. I'd say black on the block if a guy was running some chrome or aluminum/silver looking covers.
i am pretty sure that 392hemi4speed covers are chrome, it is just the reflection that make them look black. would loke to see a gold engine with aluminum covers and intake or chrome.
