Made myself a new grill.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mr. h, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. i have always wanted to do something different with my 53 ford grill so i found some 51 ford truck teeth and modified them to fit my stock grill bar. What do you think?[IMG]

okay... i feel dumb... I clicked on this thinking you made a bbq out of car parts or something... boy was I surprised lol.

All joking aside, it looks really nice dude. One of a kind for sure. Are you thinking about chroming it or what?

Looks good, I think it's kind of "Desoto-ish" but it's different and also using Ford parts. I dig it.

I like it! It is, in some ways, a subtle modification and in others an "in you face" modification. It is one of the better custom grills that I have seen.

  8. thank you for your input guys. i have to paint it unfortunately. The chrome that used to be on it was way pitted and had a lot of dents. This is actually my first metal working experience. My good friend welded it up for me. but im probably just going to paint it.

just leave as is till you can get it chromed. painted grills only work in some trucks.

It looks great! Your car appears to have some nice road wear/patina on it. Why paint the grille? I'd rock it as-is!

Looks great. 52, 53 and 54 Ford grilles are hard to customize and still look good.

  17. I like it , rub some Gibbs over the welds to stop em rusting and run it like it is .
