These are some I found with a different array of
cars although I do have several shots of the same cars.

Anything you would like to share is OK with me.

The green T, Trojan T(?) was a Toledo, OH car. I was pre-teen at the time but I remember it well, especially after it was featured in a couple car mags of the time. It was nice to have an older brother with friends that bought the magazines. I couldn't hang out with them, but I am grateful for the times they forgot their 'zines.

  4. The shot of the Beatnic Bandit shows the controller that was used during the floor show that was part of the Bandit display. I hired the Bandit for a show I produced in 1961. Ron Ekholm brought the car to St. Petersburg florida for the show. The floor show was very professional and Ron controlled the top, steering, and even fired the car up right on the show floor. It ran on Alcohol so it wouldn't gas you out.Wouldn't be allowed today for sure. It used the first stereo recordings as part of the presentation with bongos going from speaker to speaker. The music was Enoch Light orchestra and the Light Brigade, with a hollywood type announcer talking about the car of the future.

What an absolutely awesome picture!!!! I feel like that '36 in the foreground could have been my inspiration for building my '35. It's so cool....white roof insert, Sun Tach transmitter box, big ol' white walls. Thanks so much for posting this!

Lots of great shots here. The blue one is quite the stunner. Perfect for date night. And the coupe for race night. Actually this pair of cars would go just great in my garage together!!

    Absolutely amazing slides Dave... WOW!!!

  16. The pearl paint on the Kookie T and the Sahara is awesome. The El MAtador still has the blended paint that had disappeared before I got the car. Looks like set up night, as the lights were low.
    Thanks Dave

Less than a year after Dick Bailey sat in the Kookie T
at a show, he built his own from the ground up.

Man, those old shots look a lot different
on here, than they did back then with the
old slide projector and a sheet on the wall.

Here's Paul Hatton's & Paul Stafansky's Boss Hoss ,...... Both legendary,.. But Paul Hatton has had his hands on more significant, high profile cars than any of us could ever imagine.

Paul Hatton is truly a great guy, and a huge legend in Hot Rodding over many decades. The people that count him as a friend is like a who's-who of famous names of everything automotive,... He is a incredibly talented man, And I am honored to know him.

  30. Back to the top to see if we can find any more photos from the early days at the Detroit Autorama. I will be there again this year, if I can find a hole in the weather from Atlanta.
