Business coupe vs. sedan 53/54 Chev

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by borderboy1971, Mar 12, 2012.

  1. For those that are good with posting pics, can you post up some pics of 53/54 Chev CHOPPED 2dr sedans and CHOPPED business coupes. What's your opinion of which looks better?

No pics to post, sorry, ...but opinions? Sure, same as 'you know whats' & we all got one of them... Guess it's only fair to say I like 'em "un" the best, and in large part because I like the large rear window [like 2Dr sedans better than the HTs too, ...same reason].

Of the two options you offer, I'd say go for the chopped business coupe, again for two reasons; first, chopping the sedan as often as not means you loose the large rear window anyway, & second, since loosing the big rear window essentially just makes the sedan look like a long coupe, I'm guessing you'll still benefit from the coupe's shorter roofline and end up with a more graceful result. There ya go, that 2cents oughta buy ya a laugh at your local caffeine dealer nowadays!

I don't think I've seen photos of the two side by side, hope someone can post those photos.

Do you mean 'sedan's and hardtop's'?...I think 'business coupes' were only available in '53 with the 150 trim, and actually had the short roof, with a post, from '52 on them...sedan has a post, hardtop's do not...

  5. I do mean a 2 dr sedan in 150 trim (small rear window), and the business coupe (short roof) Not a hardtop, and not a 210 sedan with the big wrap around rear window. I wasn't aware they didn't make the business coupe in 54? Interesting. Yeah, if anybody has any side by side pictures to compare the two, I'd like to see the difference when chopped.

My 150 sedan is not chopped yet.. Another couple weeks before it gets a haircut. Want a stock photo? The 150 sedan roof line is the same as the 210 roof line....except for the wrap around window. Most of the chopped 210's I have seen that dont use the wrap around rear window will look almost the same as the 150 sedan chop.

  7. Ok, I just went out and took these pics. Either someone can use them for reference as to the style of bodies I mean, or photochop them. The pics are in this order: 1 - 53 2dr sedan.

  8. I have pics of the business coupe and the 49-52 style business coupe, but am having trouble getting them to attach.

  9. Here's a terrible pic of the business coupe. I took a better pic of it today, but these ^%$ computers make life very enjoyable sometimes.

Thanks borderboy, I see the business coupe rear window is a lot shorter. Do the trunk lids interchange?

  11. No the trunk lids are different lengths.

Here is my 1953 business coupe. I chopped it 2.75 in the front and 3" in the rear.

My 53 150 bc has fixed rear windows, only one sun visor, no armrests/door pulls, rubberised stone guards on the lower rear fenders (anyone know where to get some of these?). IMG_20230611_101311.jpg
