On to some exciting news, the doors are underway! In this photo you can see the left, right and bottom door jams in position and the inner window jam. The window crank and door latch mechanisms are in place. The door latch has been temporally extended. Once the door get closer to being finished the bracket will me remade to the correct length. One more thing you can see here is the cab and door extensions.
Thanks, yes lots of work and should be stronger. This is the time you start asking yourself was adding 6 inches of the 10 inch stretch into the doors a good idea or not but, I know it was the right decision!
You know how folks say here now and then, "Man, I don't know how I missed this thread for so long!" Well that be me this time. I'm just overwhelmed by your build. SO cool. And a belated subscribe! Gary
Hey fellow HAMB'ers Before I ask for everybody's "O"pinion let me say I've made my choice, I just want to hear what other's think. I little background info first, you will see two types of headlights in the following photos, 33/34 & 35/36. The 33/34 light has 9" glass with polished bezel & bucket and the 35/36 has 7" glass with polished bezel & painted (rusty) buckets. I have two questions; 1) 33/34 OR 35/36? 2) Painted buckets or polished buckets? Again I know what light I will use but I'm on the fence with polished or painted buckets.
I see a trend building for painted and I can get both styles in painted or polished but the real question is what year buckets look cooler? 33/34 with 9" Glass lens (its the polished version in the photos) 35/36 with 7" Glass lens (its the painted/rusty version in the photos) Definitely like to hear your feed back. Thanks
Chris, I like the smaller 33-34 buckets on there, the 35-36 are a bit HEAVY for that nimble front end, but I prefer a painted bucket so... If you can get ahold of a pair of 35-39 pickup buckets, they're a bit smaller than the passenger car units but you can use the cool 35-36 passenger lenses and rings on them. Lookin good man!!
Well folks I've decided to go with the 33/34 headlights. I learned they don't come in paintable version so, the buckets will get sand blasted and painted later. If you look you can see the beginnings of the shock mount too.
