The young 'un decided that he wanted to go prarie dog hunting this afternoon. I called a guy that had told me a while back that had a place. We spent about an hour out there looking at a hunk of rusty something trying to figure out what it was. The curiosity got the best of me so we drove up to it ..... and here is what it was !!

The cowl and windshield section alone is worth another trip....

Doesn't look so terribly rusted...or even damaged to the point of being unsalvageable. Some guys would be happy to have it...especially up here, where stuff gets REALLY rusted. The reality of getting it to someone in this part of the country makes the idea less feasible though. Still can't help but think it'd serve someone better than just target practice.

I was thinking either 39 or 40 !! I had absolutely no way to grab it today, and with the rattle snake population in that area like it is, I wasnt too sure that I even wanted to on a warm day like it was !! I will for sure talk to the guy and more than likely go get it eventually, when I am better prepared !!

If it is legally available, someone will fix it. Much rougher cars are on hamb builds that are now perfect. Some done by backyarders with limited tools and funds.

I am SO glad it is SO far away from me :)

I will go get it for sure, but it is beyond my capabilities !! I may "tinker" with it a bit, or trade it for some things that I need for my Whippet Sedan !!!

Don't be intimidated by the bullet holes, they are easily closed back up with a little *careful* hammer and dolly work and a short zap from a warm mig.

Good luck and at the very least Get The Convertible Cowl.

Don't look at them as bullet holes, look at them as "poorly laid out louvers";):D

Wow, what a rare car to find out in a field used as target practice, I probably would have fainted.

X2 IN SPADES! And a deck and cowl are the important pieces, a real score in my estimation.
You have the beginnings of a very rare and desirable car right there.

Smells of a stolen stripped out '40 Ford Vert. To bad frames not there for #bers. Maybe #bers on the cowl?

That's a 40 vert. The decklid alone is worth at least $500. They are extremely rare and hard to find. The windshield cowl section is a keeper also.

The car in my avatar didn't start out much better. I would be a buyer for sure.
