we (Dad and I) bought a '63 V8 Comet parts car in the early '90's and it had a set of 13" 5lugs with small centers on it. trouble was, none of our cars was a V8 so we traded that stuff off.....

    D'OH.........

found a '63 Fairlane that had a set of them but the guy wouldn't sell them.

i'm having enough trouble trying to find 14" 4lugs....

  2. If you are thinking of these(they were on a lot of Econolines) ,they are in fact 10 1/8"

I have a set of these in the larger size, and may end up using these on some narrow 15s, but I did see the smaller version of these @ 9 1/2" available for 64 - 66 Fairlanes and Falcons. So maybe there is hope that there is a 5 bolt small cap 14" wheel made...just gotta find them?

My caps of choice are the small cap Falcon poverty in a 9 1/4 version:

the ones on my van are 195 75 14 front 215 75 14 rear .Yeah I'm allergic to heights too but can't slam it at the moment cause i'm living way off road and need the clearance at the moment. The rims are standard early mustang rims[IMG]

Thanx man. Another one that put it in good perspective.
Adjustable suspension might be your solution ;)

i'm searched out... where are you guys finding 14" 4 lug steel wheels? i've been running an ad on the HAMB classifieds for some, but no luck. seems like the best source, Mustang owners building V8 cars, has dried up like OReilly's cow....
i need a set of 5, and i have some stuff to trade for them.

Tell ya what, I have 185/75x14" on the girlfriends wagon all around, but if you have anything other than stock width and offset wheels and have any visions of lowering your car, think again. Those little wheel wells fill up awfully quick.

The Ford 14" 4-lug small cap "9MG" wheels are ridiculously hard to come by. I lucked out and had them at all four corners when I bought my '65, but still had a 13" spare.......took me 10 years to find number 5 (which came with an extra...spare for a spare :D)

They are out there, just not easy to find. I think the early ('64 1/2 and '65) Mustangs ran them exclusively and they were optional on the Falcons and Comets at least through '65.

I think the the 14" wheels are stamped "Ford 9MG" while the 13" wheels are stamped "Ford 7MG"....if memory serves. I have a set of 13"s at the shop and will verify.

Dave, can you check the wheels I sent you to confirm stampings?

Since I painted them, I'm no longer sure which were which, but the wheels were stamped:

    4MK
    4MK
    5MA
    7MG
    7MG

The 5MA I kept as the spare.

Don't know about the states but in Australia the first 14'' 4 studs we had came on our 65 falcon fairmonts that came with disc fronts and used different caps to the rest of our models but the small standard caps we have are different to yours .lockheed callipers on aussie falcons .Our 14'' 4studs are stamped ROH ford Australia and are different to early 6cyl mustang rims

i'm not dropping or lowering the car at all; just trying to get it shod with tires i can actually buy.... and i don't much mind if i have to get different hubcaps, either, so the small center isn't an issue to me. man... i wish i had some of those damn Mustang rims i used to hate sooooo much....

is there anybody selling NEW 14" 4lug steelies, even chrome ones?

over here some 70s jap stuff has the same stud pattern in a 14''mazda datsun toyota ,rear wheel drive stuff or the offset would be wrong and you would need full caps as the centre's are ugly, but at least 14'' full caps are easy to find galaxie fairlane etc check the wreckers .

My car came with a set of turbine mags that I'm fairly certain were intended for a Datsun/Nissan Z car. The center register holes were too big, but the lug pattern was correct.

All of the 14" wheels that I had on my '65 were stamped "7MG"..as were the 2 that I sent you, because I remember them being the same as my originals. I forgot to check my 13" wheels this weekend to see what their stampings are, but I think they are stamped "...MG"

    I will check though...

    Don't think I've seen a 4MK or a 5MA wheel.
