Last semester at college, I stumbled upon a small automotive section in the library and noticed there were some vintage books. The best of the bunch being Hot Rod Yearbooks from 1965 and 1966 and Best Hot Rods by Eugene Jaderquist and Griffith Borgeson from 1953. The first one I subjected to the punishment of a scanner was the 1965 Hot Rod Yearbook. I plan to scan as much of them as I can if not all of them. The library downsizes regularly so you never know when these books are going to disappear from it which is why I wanted to scan them for preservation purposes. Oh, and the cars too. There are some sweet cars! There are some weird looking ones too. Something for everybody, I suppose. First, I scanned the 28 hot rods from the "Hot Rod Showcase" section of the Yearbook. These are great study material for if someone wants to build a period correct car or wants to add hints of the '60's here and there. There are 48 drag racing cars in the 1965 Showcase as well so I'll get on those next as well as the numerous articles.. Thanks for checking this out and enjoy!
the Olds powered roadster (Third from the last I believe) still survives here in Phoenix. I just saw it a couple of months ago.
You guys are welcome! I love seeing all the scanned magazines like Muttley's Hot Rod Pictorials and Jimmy B's occasional contributions. I saw these and figured I had to share these with y'all.. I'll upload a bunch of drag racing cars soon. There will be two or three bunches of those so keep an eye out for those.
Neat stuff. Cy Kubista is still around although I don't know if he still has that particular car - I see him at all the local swap meets selling stuff.
Just noticed that one of the guys {Ernie Mills} is from my home town. I'll see what I can dig up on him.
Here are 22 more! As it turns out, I'm pretty effective with a scanner. It's PhotoBucket that takes forever to upload pictures..
