    I'm trying to put a tour together for the GM Heritage Center for the HAMB folks attending the Autorama. I did this last year and it worked out pretty well.

    Here's the details (as far as I know);

    we need a minimum of 30 people.

    the cost will be $10 each. cheap!

    This years tour will be on Friday, 2-24 midday.

    Everybody needs to have a way to get to the Heritage Center (we'll have an area for the "give a ride, need a ride" folks

    Friday after lunch (depending on the time schedule), everybody would meet up in the basement at or near the Singlefinger Speed Shop Booth. I will sell tickets. then we will head out to the Heritage center, where I will check everyone in. Why the mess with the tickets? because I will have to write a check to GM for the # of people that go into the place. there is a $300 minimum for the tour and I really don't want to pay 75 or 100 bucks just for me to get in! This ain't a profit deal, GM charges 10 bucks per person, even if it's more than 30.

    I'm waiting for a confirmation from GM on the exact tour time, I update the post when I know for sure.

    UPDATE - We have a tour booked for 1:30 pm.
    We should meet in the basement around 12:20 and be ready to leave Cobo Hall around 12:50. it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get to the GM building.

    There was a massive post last year about this tour, the great time that everybody had, photos and a group shot, but it had to be deleted to protect the names of the innocent. hopefully some of the "innocent" ones will chime in and verify this. My post count took a huge hit, so don't think that I'm a newbie or something.

    Let's start the list!

    My Group has 4;

    I've been MANY times in the past and there is always something new to see there as they rotate cars in and out all the time. Since this place is not open to the public this is an AWESOME opportunity to check the place out.

    Thanks for organizing this once again Scott.

  4. I tagged along in 08, and let me tell you.....it's a bargain at ANY price if you have the least bit of interest in seeing some of the coolest one-off historic cars GM ever built. There's stuff there that you'll likely never see anywhere else again in your life!! :cool::cool::cool::cool:

    All Right! we've got 8. we need,,,,, crap, I cant do the math - A BUNCH MORE!!

    If you don't have transportation there & back, call it out so that others who have available seats in their rides can offer up and find you in the basement. Last Year, getting everybody that wanted to go, but didn't have a ride took waaaayy too long and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

    It's gonna be a blast!

    Thanks, Dan. I listed that on the 1st post of this thread.

    The GM Heritage Center is a super nice place. No ropes, no barriers of any kind! Just walk right up to some of the wildest and legandary cars and take as many photos as you like. (carefully and respectfully of course). Last year, the guys that worked there offered to open the hoods or doors of any car if we would like them to! Really nice folks.

    All Right, one week away!

    WE ONLY HAVE 19 PEOPLE SET SO FAR. WE NEED 11 MORE TO GET THE TOUR!

    If we don't get 30 people, they will not let us in at the Heritage Center. Yea, we'll probably pickup a few folks on the spot (all are welcome), but I really want to have this thing locked down before everybody makes the trip to Detroit.

    You know it'll be a good time,,,

    Yea, sure,,,,,,,, it just takes a few laps to get there. Ride it untill it passes Cobo Hall Station 13 1/2 times and then get off at the next stop!

    Seriously, you will need a car to get to GM (car, truck, moped, helicopter, limo, whaterver you've got.

    If you need a ride post it here and the mob - I mean group- will work it out.

    See you Friday!

    Well,,,,, I guess that will be one less going to the Heritage center.

    Looks like McKee will be lapping the People Mover! Some folks can't resist a thrill ride I guess.

    We've got 26! NEED 4 MORE !!

    I'm hoping McKee was kidding about the people mover.

    IF YOU NEED A RIDE TO THE GM HERITAGE CENTER ---- Get to the Basement early! it will go smoother if we can match up an open seat with a rider when the tickets are passed out.
