Last Sunday we held the 4th annual Dust Up at Waihi Beach, New Zealand. We had a blast - cars racing "Cat & Mouse" style over 4 laps... Entrants included Hot Rods, Pre-65 sedans, vintage stock cars and midgets. No winners, no trophies, no prizes. At the end of the day Tim & The Rockets belted out classic Kiwi Rock while the bar was selling ice cold beers for $3.50 a bottle...

The next day was the "Rusty Nuts" car show just 2km down the road, so there were plenty of spectators on race day.

Some GREAT video footage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpLC65aPs9Q

Thanks to Nigel Watts for the photos......

The helmet and neck brace are a condition of the owner of the track - they won't let us on the track without them. It's the only condition we have, so it's no really an issue. And I guess any safety gear is better than none at all.

We sure did have a great day - it was a lot of fun!

    That's funny!!!! :D

For some reason the first 2 hours were VERY dusty. Maybe it was the wind blowing the dust into the crowd. At Noon we had the parade laps and the track was watered just before it. We think all the cars on the track packed the dirt down and the dust wasn't so bad from then on...

    Good fun though!
