hi, i did a search for a thread but could find one specifcally about this.

im chasing some pictures and a bit of info on how you guys set up the rear suspension either with coil overs or airbags, just to see how much work iv got to do or wether or not i should just put a leaf sprung rear end in it.

also chasing pictures of notches on these cars and how much floor has to be cut out to be able to notch them with the body still on as apose to taking the body off the frame.

also pics of these cars tubbed to get them real low would be pretty swell as well.

    cheers morgan

Check out Gambino customs. They have a whole set up. there are many ways to set up the air ride. 4 link, 3 link, air over leaf. it all depends on how much u wanna spend. The notch is determined on how low and what size wheel and tire combo your running.

thanks dude, iv notched and bagged cars in the past, but i was just trying to get some information about these chevys in particular because of how the rear quarters are i don't think id be able to get it that low with out my tyres(G78-15s) hitting the undersides of the quarter, as they already hit the stock tubs which rant that far away from the quarters anyway??

but i defiantly will check out gambino and give them a call and see what they can tell me

    cheers

This is kinder what I mean, there's not a heap of room to go much lower before my tyre hits the under side of the quarter. I might have to just run a smaller tyre

Theres plenty of pics of these cars with 4/3 links around here, Gambino's 4 links are definitely one to check out.

This is the 4 link Ive mocked up for my 4 door 54.

Tubbing is a different story though, especially on a 4 door. This is a 54 4door, You can kind of see the guy has just trimmed the top out of the factory tubs to get the wheels a bit higher up.

Or just go all out..... this is a 2 door though, bit easier to tub than a 4 door.

Im about to attack the rear seat area, trunk floor and wheel tubs on my 54 soon, Im just cutting the lot out and starting from scratch.

Heres a good topic to follow if you haven't seen it...

ah sweet, i am actually planning on making mine a 2 door so i will probably be cutting out and remaking the rear support bit behind the seats and the bits of the wheel arch that you can see when you open up the rear doors

I thought I was the only one here who intentionally built jacked-up stuff! Good to see the pros do the same :D

just because your a business doesn't mean you shouldn't be questioned. that rear x member looks stock so that meant to me it was farther up in the frame. and since the pavement didn't look like mount Everest i asked. and yes i read the build.

Then really look at all the pics before you comment and you will see that the ground is sloped out to the giant gutter in the middle of the lot for drainage wich is also sloped out to the road.:p

i didnt say it to get sarcastic comments in return. from what you say the rear cross member is still tweaked the wrong way if the ground is sloping to the right since the member is sloping to the left. and since there is one cross member from the rear of the trans to the end of frame im not really surprised. i was hoping the response would be an informative one.

Think about that for a minute. Again you jump to fast, if the ground is sloped to the right you will have GREATER distance between the frame and ground on the right not the left. But if your not suprised and already know the answer to your question why ask in the first place?

:eek:try to understand the law of gravity. if the grounds tilted then the frame will be too! but if your saying the ground is slanted that much then why isn't the frame that's touching that very ground aslo?! unless this has the rare "autolevel"!!!!!!

sorry for being rude. and btw i like your exhaust routing on your avatar
