This is not a race car but a tribute to a circle track car/racer from West Virgina. The 'Flying Zero', a 40 Ford coupe, driven by 'Spivey'. I can't find any info about this combo - does anyone have any information regarding this? The pic didn't get attached
The Stags club's 40, parked in front of our clubhouse. We've owned and raced this car since 1960. Mick
Chris, I don't think the old girl's got it in her anymore. It used to be a race car 2 owners before I got it. Wes remembers seeing it at York US 30 when he worked there. Here's how it looked when I got it. Had a 327 with a TR-1 Edelbrock tunnel ram and two fours and a Borg Warner 4 speed. Wes said it ran high 11's. Not bad for "back in the day"!
Great photos, Andy. 40's are cool in any configuration. The Bill Baldwin '40 is an awesome exercise in restraint. Keeping all that is special about a '40 Standard Coupe while putting together one incredible car. The Hot Rod Garage scored yet another home run when they did this one.
Andy, She's had a slight attitude, I mean altitude adjustment since then. Since I am going with a Bonneville them I am thinking about a roll bar and the picture of yours is just where I was thinking of putting it.
Great shots! Ford will always be known for 1939-40 Fords Chevy's..... 1955-57's Mopars..... Anyting with a HEMI! Toyota-Datsun, etc........Throw away/Recycle scrap!
