Hello Hambers i just want to share some pics of my new project car.
1951 Deluxe Bel Air Hard top.
I have always loved these cars especially the hard top's.
Don't look like much but all the tin is there not sure what direction i want to take this car in, not sure when the real project will start since i am not done with my other car, but i always wanted another hard top so i bought this one. Needs front floors and a couple of floor braces and some quarter panel work.
car currently sports 51 old's taillights there cool but not my flavor so i threw them on eBay,car was a older custom last registered in 86.
love the red velvet headliner, thinking of re painting it red with a white top and some old school cragars or off white with wide whites and slammed not sure yet in the mean time she will collect dust in my garage lol.

Those make sharp rides. Shave the hood and deck, old school frenched head lights, sunken radio antenna, dark red, chrome reversed wheels with spider caps, oh yeah!

Who said any thing about the trim? Just the hood and deck emblems. But hey if you like 'em keep 'em. It'll still be a sharp ride.

Here are a few more shots of the car.
Floors seem pretty solid except for the two front sections and a couple of floor braces.

Here's a '50 Chevy hardtop owned by Bob Nelson of Ventura to get your juices flowing. Good luck on the build will be watching your progress.

    CRUISER

Not to be picky, but it isn't a Styleline, it is a Bel Air.

I'm thinking this is a MUCH better idea than chopping the car up.

I'm building a 50 hardtop chevy. I'm drooling over the trunk floor, floor pans aint bad either on yours. you have a great car to start with.

i always wondered if shipping companies would haul a project w/o a motor. how much more was it from point a to point b compared from a running car to a project?

Don't think they were called "bel air" until '53...

Since you like stock trim, and you have that cool velvet headliner, how about a bomb w/ some mild custom touches?

Bob Nelson's car is absolutley perfect, and one of my favorite chevys ever, but its a lot of work to get there and i dont know if you really wanna dive that deep.

Ooh, you're getting into the confusing part of it :)

    A 50-52 Hardtop is a Bel Air.

Starting in '53 a post car can be a Bel Air (I believe)

If you can...have the BB hole repaired by those glass fixers...I put a new Olds remake in my '52 Chevy($450 in 1998) and it seemed to get pitted pretty badly over years of driving lots...not sure if the new glass is not as hard as the old original W/S...
not sure on the Olds T/L...definitely different!...notice them right away

I've got that model. Built it back in the early 90's and still have it today. That model was the reason I wanted to get my '52 Chevy when I saw it. Now I'm basically doing the car like the model with a couple upgrades.....

  24. Nice solid start. They make repop floor braces. Keep us posted!! Todd
