    Hey gang,

As some of you may know, I'm in the Bar business, besides Hot Rods, designing environments in which to imbibe is my other passion.
Lately, I got the opportunity to combine both, I've just opened my latest project, "Oldfield's Liquor Room". It's a tribute to my racing hero Barney Oldfield, who, like myself, also raced cars, and owned bars. It's located in Culver City (Los Angeles) near where Barney is currently resting.

I got the blessing of the Oldfield's family, and Barney's Great Nephew Wayne Peterson was a big help with his collection of pictures.

If your ever in the LA area, stop by and raise a glass to Barney.

Hey Bobby, I guess I'll have to take a road trip just to come out & see all your places! It will happen!!

  9. Very cool website, well done.

  10. In 1907 Barney Oldfield raced at Lakeside Speedway in Lakeside CA which went around Lindo Lake.. 50 years later I used to hang at that lake and felt special knowing, although the speedway was long gone, I walked the areas Barney drove. Even as a 10-year old I understood the significance of him.

    My kinda guy !

    Do it !

    No, but we got:
    Blitzen Benz
(The Benz Barney raced to beat the mile, two mile, and kilometer race at Daytona Beach)

    Blonde Comet
(A racing film he starred in as himself about a young woman trying to succeed as a racecar driver)

    Lovetta
(Lovetta is Barney’s Wife’s middle name. Thought it was fitting since this is originally a classic called the pink lady)

    The Desert Classic
(Named after the Broadway musical in which barney was a star)

    Outlaw
(Barney was banned from racing by the AAA for Outlaw racing practices)

    The Oakshade
(The racetrack near the town barney was born in. Till this day they hold an annual “Barney Oldfield Race)

    The Indie Stutz
(The car he drove to become the highest finishing driver in the Indy race)

    No. 999
(The car that Barney bought from Henry Ford before ever racing an automobile. Now sits in the Ford Automobile museum)

    Peerless
(Barney competed at twenty tracks in 18 weeks while driving for Peerless, and won sixteen straight match races)

    Dauntless $12
(Named after the bicycle company that discovered Barney in 1894)

    Golden Submarine
(A car Barney helped developed that incorporated a roll cage inside a streamlined driver’s compartment that completely enclosed the driver)

    UH,... Of course !!

    You better !!

Don't know if it is true....but we moved to San Luis Obispo in the early 60's....and right behind our house in a great big empty field ( acres 'n acres ) was what we agreed, ( after hearing stories from the locals ) was an old banked racetrack. We used to ride bikes & motorcyles up the infield banking as "jumps". More than one old-time told me Barney raced there.

    All developed & parks now.

Awesome, now just own up to the place actually being in Palms instead of Culver City! haha

Perfect location, too - right between the CC board track and the L.A. Motordrome!

  27. Nice web site too!

  28. I think that's just cool as hell.

  29. Your just the mogul of mixology aren't you there Mr. Bobby Green. Looks like a neat place to pound a few back. Now only if you could open something like that in Tucson. We get really thirsty here in the desert.
