Here's one I bought to re-build. The driver side's been hit and needs a door and quarter panel.

If anybody know who build this car, please let me know as I bought it from a salvage company and would like more info on it.

    Thanks!

Nice cars, heres my 47 Fleetline. Owner built, peaked hood, handbuilt headlight doors, 56 olds wheelwell openings, full fadeaways(47 hood sideways) shaved handles, molded rear fenders, shaved trunk lid, led taillights in bumperettes, 6" lowering, custom mixed pearl white(buddy sprayed white, beat me to the gun), owner done flames and custom pinstriping. Three winters work, never off road in summer, 85000 miles later.

Nibs- Looks like a nice period piece and a heck of a driver. I can tell you drive it because the license plate already has the "aerodynamic treatment" mod. :)

Here's a pix of my buddy's '47 Fleetline Chevy with some great body work. See if you can spot the change in the Fleetline.

    Good day,
I also just picked up a 1946 FleetLine with a 1957 235 engine that was rebuilt. It has a closed line tranny. The original rear end and drive line were missing. We came across a 1972 rear end off a Monte Carlo. This is my first true 40's build and I am learning a lot from my friends. How difficult will it be to adapt these two different devices to make it run. They tell me the gear ratio on the 72 will make the 235 run better. I have a friend offering a rear end from a 1942, not sure on the gears. I'd like to keep everything original and take it out on the road asap and show her off.

    Hi Charlie,

the rear in the '42 would likely have 4.11 gears from the factory, so it will rev really high on the highway, but that's what they were like. Your '57 235 would be a nice motor to run with hydraulic lifters and newer insert bearings, so keep that if you want to build it for highway use. I'd find a 55 or later open drive 3 speed transmission (or even one with O/D) and you can find / fab a driveshaft that would work with your Monte Rear end. That would make things easier to piece together and work on. Post up some pics of your Fleetline if you can. Is it a 4 door or 2 door Aerosedan?
