Customs face lift and air ride on my 49 shoebox

ok so im now 24 and have had this car since i was 19. This face lift all started with a little fender bender on my way to the hennert car pile up. It was then that i decided i was going to go thru my car this winter. i started to think and plan what i wanted to do when my good friend justin of one shot kustoms called me and told me that there was a 2link air ride giveaway from the jimenez bros here on the hamb so i submited my shoebox and as luck would have it i won!!!!! i dont think i ever really won anything else so this was a good first. Once i got the 2link i sold my chopper and bought everything else i needed for air ride like bags tank lines the works. i also wanted to change my car around to to change it up and do things a lil different. so im changing up the tail light headlights and grill treatment.

now is about the time i took my car to my friends justin of oneshot kustoms and Amy "ms Metal" garage cause they felt bad for me working on my ride outside in the 20 degree weather. I owe them big thanks for all there help they have put in so far they are both super talented ppl.

i made the tube frame for these tail lights while justin helped me fill in the missing spears and ms metal cut and shaped the 16 gauge sheet metal and welded it all up

 

I like the tail lights vertical!!!!!

That's sweet, you get an A+ for using a stock tail light unit and managing to come up with a novel & tasty way of doing it, Cool! Nice fab work too! Your earlier headlight treatment was pretty novel also, ...though I'm not sure I was a big fan, but you've got my attention & it'll be interesting to see where you go with the front end, ...I'll stay tuned.

Nice work. I like the headlights and grill treatment. 16 Gauge. Wow the original sheetmetal is 19 seems like a bit of overkill.

I like where this is going, I was not a fan of the '40 Ford headlights but I do like the Edsel quads with the Dodge grille bars. Can't wait to see it finished.

Curious, did you end up using the tail light mounting face piece that you cut out of the quarter panels? Because I could use those if you didn't.

I've always been curious about removing the side spears from a shoebox...and how it would look

....well...it looks great...

you definitely have the east coast vibe going on with the changes...

 

I like that vertical tailllight idea.Just a suggestion:buy a pair of Lee Lenses,they could look cool on your ride.I have a horizontal taillights,but frenched.No regrets after buying those bubble lenses.Keep it up!

Thanks and nope the paint is gonna be different I'm planning a two tone with 55 Pontiac trim I still may flame it

Very nice. I'm a fan of the grille treatment. I had a 51 a while back and used the Dodge grille as well.
