Sold a set at a swap myself a while back that looked identical, the key would be that they had no provision for mounting on the back. They look a bit like '53 Caddy rings, but with less droop to the eyebrow and a softer edge on the lower rim.
They are VERY close to the 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer bezels. They have a trailing bullet on the fender.
I'd have to look to be sure but I don't think that the '53/54 stude had that reveal. maybe a hawk ring, but I am pretty sure that the hawk used the same ring as the Commander/Champ.
I guess isn't to big of deal if don't know what their from. I was just searching tonight on how to figure out if their pot metal or not and how to french. Unfortunately have to wait until tomorrow to find out, car and rings at shop. Tell you one thing, took off my stock 49' ford rings and held them up look pretty damn good. Sure hope they work. Will post a pic of em on car tomorrow.
Just to fuck with everyone I'm gonna say mid to late 50s Desoto Edit....not even close, Desoto went to dual quads in '57, before that they were peaked but no overhang.
This is them on car unfortunately their pot metal, so need to decide if I wanna make work. Any suggestions?will they hold up? Sorry to get off topic but mine as well plug Gambino kustoms and post couple pics of car since installing tail dragger kit.
why wouldn't they hold up? They've lasted this long. Its up to you. If you want to "make them work" then you gotta cut up the fender, do the metal work, then the body work, then repaint. If all that work is worth doing to you to get the look your going for then go ahead and do it. Its only metal.
could even possibly be an aftermarket accessory item,, i bought a very similar set at a swap meet several years ago that looked almost exactly like those.
