x2. I'd be leaning more towards Costin or scarab on the nose. yea, like as if I could make anything even remotely like that!

The 280-ish look is also due to the sharp break at the end of the nose, not just the headlights. You could pull the nose-grill opening farther forward, and drop the hoodline down between the fenders more, put a scoop or bubble on the hood to clear the carb, leaving the fender tops where they are. Not only would this help get rid of the 280 look, it would give it more of that Lister/Scarab/Testa-Rosa 1950s look. Just a thought...

Pretty squirrely cars at the time they debuted, did not handle well from what I heard my father and his buddies talking about, and they were racing against them and beating them. If you want to look at home-brewed american sports racing cars with sbc's, the Scarabs were FAR more successful in thier day, and a REAL contender. The other big reason cheetahs never did much, the plan was to make enough of them to get them homologated for production class, so they could go head-to-head with the Cobras. That never happened, and because of the limited production numbers, they wound up running heads-up against the rear-engine sports race cars of the day. Privateers did make some progress in time with sorting the rear suspension (the rear control arms were too short, and the mounting points werent rigid enough) but they were badly out-classed running against Lotus 23B's, Chapparals and Mclaren Mk 1A's and it was WAY too little, too late. I saw the Alan Green Cheetah at Westwood in the mid-sixties, one of the best memories of my childhood. IIRC, Bob Mclean totally outran it in his 23B.

Still pounding away. Working on the hood scoop and cowl area to make the transition to the windshield and allow for the wipers to come out. Next is back to the grill and nose for some fine tuning. Ray

 

Made some "keeper" lower panels today. Worked out where the door skins will start and stop. Had to relocate the door hinges to make up for the extra girth of the door. Extended the grill 2" and smoothed out the transition around the headlight bucket. Hours go by!

 

I think I'd like to see this one go to a finished drivable car by you, like your coupe, rather than partially build the body then sell to someone to finish.

Now I'm not tying to be offensive or rude here but looking at it I still think cut up 'vette. I would try to loose it's visual heritage as, if I were you I would be offended by complete dicks like me and want to punch their lights out!!

Ken Miles and his "Flying Shingle". Great little car and very fast for its class.

 

The more I look at it the more it reminds me of a Cheetah, modenized to use some salvage chassis.

just my 2 cents... the top of the hieght of the fenders is off, either the wheel opening in too small or the fender is to tall. proportions seem a little off.

 

ferrari 375 couple different versions. I dont know if you can get the hood line low enough to pull this off, I think it gives more a 50's look.
Love what youre doing, just keep the headlights / front end out of Datsun-Mazda territory

Damn dude. That just looks fantastic.

Not that you care or that my opinion matters, but I am still having a hard time with that windshield.

I only say anything because I think the car deserves better! Ha!
