Hot Rods Track Nose Roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rodncustom, Jan 7, 2012.

  1. Beautiful car love the color. Could you give me the measurements from left to right at the base of the kick panel where the door sill ends the total length. I am building a track T and was wondering how much space you have and been able to have both seats to fit like yours. From the narrowest part near the door post and at the widest part where the seats are positioned.

    Thanks

Finally this car will be driven! I was Dug's transportation captain for years, this car toured the show circuit for so long, seran wrapped tires, polished inside tail pipes, I'm glad it's finally to be driven, I'm currently in Georgia with his 32 coupe at the super show, we're going all the way!

My dad originally did want to build a new grille, along the lines of the Stovebolt Special HWM that he restored a long time ago, but the grille is a special one-off so I will be keeping it, but I did replace the nose with an aluminum one built by my dad. Pictures are now up of it.

Damn I love that car...! It's getting better by the minute. I didn't think that was possible after looking at the first pictures.

What is done to the engine? Those things are EASY to get power out of, and sound great with a big cam.

Your Dad should build a new grill for it and sell me back the one that's on it please. I payed $50 for it at Albany in 2000, changed the car's direction complete completely.

That is awesome! It looks so good with the green paint, black wheels thing. It looks like an old british race car kinda.

  21. Beautiful work. Are you painting the bellypan or leaving it raw alloy?

Now that is a traditional hot rod ! I remember a black '27 quite similar in appearance ,track nose ,nerfs and a killer flattie. This one belonged to a guy named "Yoyo" who had bought it from Ernie Hashim as the story goes. I mentioned to Ernie (RIP) several years ago at the Smokers annual dinner as a friend here in Vegas bought it. Earnie said after he sold it to Yoyo in Mojave,he kept it at his gas station. There was a loner that lived out in the boodocks with another roadster that used to come into Mojave on Sat. nights just to race, Yoyo would blow his doors off every time , loner would pay up and retreat into the sagebrush to "supertune" and would show up as regular as clockwork. Yoyo moved to Vegas afterward and opened a speedshop with Frank "Pappy" Urban. The car was ruined with a chromed 327, track nose was replaced with a brass shell and was painted candy red. The dash mounted pressure pump and gage was smoothed over. I just didn't have the heart to tell Ernie !

Jimmy, good question. My dad and I were discussing this today when I was at the shop. The thought right now is to paint the rear roll pan up to where it's part stops(right at the rear axle) and leave the actual flat belly pan from the rear axle forward raw alloy.

My dad made this lift in his shop. He just wanted to build one instead of buying one for vrious reasons. It does it's job. :)
