Well I was looking on craigslist just to see what was for sale, and I found this

    http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/2758806596.html

a 1956 Bel Air 4dr hardtop for $700. I have never seen one in person and was wondering how rare are they?
I don't have the space or the money to buy this, but someone here might and I wanted to share it with all of ya.

One of 103,602 built in '56 Decent deal for $700, looks solid and lots of good parts on it, could be saved with a donor car.

  4. They only made the 4 door hardtops in 56 and 57.Potential for a valuable car. And I think they are great looking.

These are really cool cars, for the number shown produced not many remain around today. I think Chevy called these The Sport Sedan. My Salina pal Poverty Flats has a beautiful 57 Sport Sedan, these cars rock. ~sololobo~

The dash looks pretty beat but the car has the four door ht pieces you need. They make nice family cruisers and or are great for hauling the whole brigade out to dinner or bar hopping.

The original colors were even my favorite color combination for that year.

I have a friend that has a 56 210 4 door hard top. Dunno how rare that is considering the 4dr HT was usually a Bel Air from what ive read.

In 1975 I went to look at a "55 Chevy Bel-Air 2 dr hdtp" that was advertised in the paper for $250. When I got there it was a '55 210 2 dr sedan, but I bought it anyway.

First year for 4 dr hdtp for Chevrolet was 1956.

    Just so you know.

First year for 4 door hardtop in the Chevrolet line; available as a Bel Air or a 210 (much rarer) Sport Sedan. Butch/56sedandelivery.

my aunt had a 56 4dr hardtop. turquoise and white. never really cared for the 56's. 55's were my favorite Chevy. my dad had a 56 Chrysler Windsor Nassau 250 2dr that was a much cooler car than her Chevy. it was white with a gold and black 300-style interior. nice.

    the Chevy isn't rare....just interesting.

You should have bought that car. It was a one of none. Probably a barn find with patina.

I know this is an old thread resurrected, but I always thought that the '57 210 4-DR hardtop was the rare one.
