my dad gave me a big deuce kit he built as a kid...i started on it maybe 5 years ago and never finished it. really cool piece of history there, at least for me. i sanded down some pieces and see where he did some kandy's and some flames, etc... kind of makes me proud of the old man!

Here are some new pics of the wcc Chevy, filled the emblum holes and painted it last night. It'sstill not done yet but I think it looks good, plus my camera is a pos so you cant see alot of the detail. What do you guys think so far? I also tinted the rear windows.

I couldn't deal with the roofline. I know the master was reworked, but I don't know why it made it into rubber with that windshield post and doorframe area like that. That, and it being cast 1/2" thick. I can understand experimenting with materials, but that wasn't a good choice for a body.

I know, but when your choices are limited to one or nothing, you do what you can with the one.)

This body needed MAJOR renovations too when I got it, but I'm still building it.

Maybe one of these days somebody will produce decent bodies in 1/8 scale but the cost is very prohibitive so ... :D

That's very true about the willys. I took a lot of measurements, and scaled up from the Revell coupe, and it was so far off and I became so disenchanted. I figured i'd just scale from the Revell coupe, and grab some foam, and make a go of it myself. I've scaled the hood, and that was as far as it got. I apprecated the effort to produce it, and it was a gift, so I felt kind of bad about never taking it on.

That phaeton is outstanding. I saw one of those shells on ebay some time ago, and I considered taking a shot at it. It's on my way too long "to-do" list.

I'm thinking vacuuming forming multi-piece bodies is the way to go myself. The master would be a lot more work, because it would have to be multi-piece, but the per-unit cost would be dirt cheap compared to fiberglass or resin. Harder to build, but cheaper to buy into, so I think it would be worth it.

I wish all these cheap chinese "ready to run" r/c cars came in 1/8th scale instead of 1/6th, I think that would help us out a lot too.

I hope the 3-D printing prosess wil continue to drop in price and make large scale bodies affordable.

    Hers the woody Jim.

So my willys got here (Thanks Big Deuce)
As soon as I got out of the box I had to go outside and radius the rear wells and try some wheels on.

I think I will use the Pontiac w a blower or injectors or step up for a 392

Anyone got parts they’ll part with ?
Olds / Pontiac or 9” ford rear
    Bell and 4 speed
    Bucket seats
Blower w injector and scoop or strait hiborn style injectors

296v8, that looks awsome! Those wheels will look great with that body. I mastered those wheels in corian counter top material, I also have the ford 9 chunk master, but nothing in resin copies:(

I wish I could get some more Elroy !!!!! Mike Gradis at edeuce used to make them but they have been out of production for a LOOOONG time. Maybe someone here has one and is willing to part with it. If you find more than one, let me know )
Yes, it's a Big Deuce chassis that was narrowed in the rear and modified to fit. Heres a link to build pics ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/8thscalemodels/29-altered/000-6301.html
