Any ideas on how to hide an independent front suspension on a 34 coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Danshotrod, Dec 18, 2011.

  1. And we wonder why the FNGs get confused... HAHA.:D

(I totally agree on the track roadster by the way...)

  2. Good point, it takes time to understand the finer nuances of style, I could see an FNG not understanding.;)!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Ditto. anything since 1932 just looks better with fenders anyhoo.

The best way to hide an IFS is - to SELL IT on The HAMB and BUY a straight axle from another HAMB member.

You've made us proud! You'll be quite surprised at how well a solid axle handles, no need to ever put an IFS on a Hot Rod.

You are going to be SO happy you did this in the end. Smart decision.:):) I bet if you are real careful you can cut off all that MMII stuff far enough away from the old frame then grind off the rest and be able to not hurt the old rails. I would tack weld on some steel supports across the frame behind that area to keep the alignment, then remove it when you get the new crossmember in place.

  12. Good decision. The old I beam suspension just plain looks good on a rod.

The right choice isn't always the easiest, but you will never regret this choice.

You is now officially a hot rodder ! :D:D Good job, kinda like having a baby (they tell me) all the pain is forgotten after the job is done.

BTW, I bought a set of the Speedway split wishbones and IMO they are NICE. I've used Ford bones in the past and wanted to see what these were like and am very impressed. I'll be using them on my rpu project. I know some diehard will say "they ain't original." :p
