Starting next week. I am going to open my shop up on Tuesday nights to those that might need help with a project, need a tool they don't have or just want to learn how to do some fabricating. From 6:00pm to 10:00pm for $25 Dollars I will allow you access to my shop, tools and guidance. Look forward to seeing you.

    Rules:

Every project that comes in that day, leaves that day.
    Provide your own materials.
No drinking between 6 and 10.
    Dress to work.

I am sure there will be more as we get it figured out. If it gets to busy I will do two days a week.

    Enjoy.

I would say standing around is free, but then I would end up with 30 people talking about doing things and distracting those that would be trying to get some work done. I am trying to create a good atmosphere for those that desire to get some work done and learn, but do not have the means to do so.

Last night was a good night, Erin came out and decided to build a gas tank for her '54 Kaiser, to replace the boat tank in her back seat... Here is what she got accomplished.

glad Tuesday shop night was a success. 25 bucks for 4 hrs in a heated shop with tools and a wild fabricator to coach you is a steal ! looks like a cool truck in the background

That's a cool idea but I think my insurance company would have a heart attack if they knew I had "customers" using power tools, ect. Do you have them sign wavers or something to protect yourself from lawsuits? My wife works for an attorneys office so I get to hear every night about lawsuits over stupid people doing stupid things but of course it has to be someone else's fault so maybe I'm paranoid!

It's a place for people to come and learn and have the opportunity to do things on their own, that they would not normally have the place or opportunity to do it.

I agree. There are some mini bike builds slated for Hot Rod Tuesdays... For Bonneville and other excursions.

I agree with metaman on signing some kind of waver. Most pick-a-part salvage yards around here do unless they know you well. Just too many ways to get hurt in a shop.

This is a great idea and I hope the thinking spreads to San Diego.. I end up doing things 3 or 4 times and could use the suggestions of a mentor.

  26. She's doing a nice job on that tank. It might be just me, but seeing an attractive girl doing metal work is a turn-on! Love it!!
