I woke up to a text from you, your new 34 roadster mocked up I'm guessing. I wanted to see more and thought you may have a new thread up? But found this one instead. I love it.

I 1st fell in love with 33/34 roadsters in Sweden. I was attending the A bombers shows for a few years and that Denmark roadster is so sick! Money never allowed me to land one until I sold some stuff off and found the right deal.

Plans have been to build it as a custom since you you don't see many 33/34's that way. But boy will it be hard to not raise the rear end and pull off the fenders! Hahahaa.

I sold my original Duvall to help pay for my 34, so it won't have that on it. I also didn't want it to be compared to the only other custom from back in the day. I had a beautiful Pines Winterfront for it and planned to build a custom nose, but scrapped that idea and sold it. Really, I needed the money. I do have a nice set of 36 skirts I hope to adapt. It will get a healthy chop. Not as much as Lance Sorchick's 34, but close. I still regret not taking a hair more out of my 32. Maybe someday... I have been dreaming of redoing that whole car lately. Guess I have too much time working on other stuff and not working on cars.
The only non original part on my 32 is the floor as it was channeled back in 49 I think. So I have been kind of dreaming of taking it down again. We'll see... I have another body to mess with 1st and maybe get it out of my system.

He hasn't grabbed it yet. I think he's heading out after Christmas with his father and father in law to California to go get it where it was relayed by Marcy.

All I needed to see was original wood on that roadster to know it's going to be epic....

Looks like a Chevy with all that dam wood. What was Ford thinkin.

 

No shit- why they used so much wood in 33-36 Ford roadsters and phaetons boggles my mind!

I hear you. Don't make sense to me.

 

They used wood because it was cheaper, labour was cheap then, and the Roadster and phaethon was built in really low numbers, so it made sence to use a wooden frame for the body.

And they did not have to make tools for the inner structure parts.

And the built million's of Model T Fords with Wooden bodyframe.
So they know how to do it fast and cheap.

 

Thanx for all the great pix gang, really some knock-out stuff. I have always thought the beautiful front ends were the best. Here is a poor shot of a awesome flathead powered roadster that runs at the H.A.M.B. drags that is a beauty and an awesome build. ~sololobo~

This one is exactly how I wish mine to turn out. Just add some caps on the wheels and paint on the fenders. Thanks for sharing.
