after welding in cowl vent I removed the windshield wiper towers to sand whole area. there is notch cut in the windshield rubber for clearance on the wiper towers.I am now welding in these holes aswell.would hate to have to cut notch in new rubber.anyone else seen this on these cars? I may have some 39 chevy windshield wipers for sale.

after removing windsheild decided it was agood time to re paint dash and replace nasty peice of oak in gauge panel with walnut. this project is just snowballing . you know how it is while fixing one thing you find two others that need attention.

  8. Snowballing? No way. Your just getting the details worked out in your heads. I'm thinking that puppy is going to scoot.

Been a while since I had mine apart, but have no notch in my windshield rubber. The towers sit back from the rubber just enough to clear. What exactlyare you welding up? You should have a square or rectangle hole where the wiper tower mounts.

check out what I did to these gauges.the gauges I bought were slightly smaller than the ones I took out. just barely covered the holes .the old gauges had the needle sweep acroos top side new ones on the bottom .realized you couldnt see them like that so I angled them up with some pvc pipe.

built this cross member to replace the hacked up original. makes a lot of clearance for exhaust. welded in nuts for exhaust hangers.this was an after thought after I had painted it.
