I was born a few decades too late.

 

Our friend Jim Tipper recently unveiled the resurrected Brasher, Cummings & Rose Willys Gasser. That the car still exists is a testament to Jim’s fabrication skills and perseverance. In 1987, after several years of nostalgia racing, Jim flipped and rolled the car on a test pass at a Track Day at Fremont. My partner Gary was involved in the chassis and tin work in the rebuild; it took 25 years. Considering what he had to start with, the results are miraculous. A lesser man would have hauled the remains off to the crusher.

Detonator, Please pass on my congratulations to Jim and his crew on a beautiful restoration of the Willys. I met Jim at Fremont in 86, I restored and raced Tom Willford's Ron Bizio truck in 87, about the same time as Jim's crash. The A/GS fraternity was very small at that time.

 

AWESOME!!!!

 

Ohio George's SOHC powered Willys. I was at the Nationals when he won in Indy ('65 or '66) and at the top end he was just playing with the throttle as he was beating one of the top West Coast gassers.
