  4. Ryan thats lookin good. Dang you guys are hard to keep up with!

I agree leave a little more rear fender than that pic. I'm sure you will do this justice, just like the Henry J.

    Thanks everybody

here are some more old photos for inspiration. I scanned these in from a '62 Rod and Custom.

The sedan is just bad ass and has a similar attitude as the our coupe. The roadster pickup has chopped rear fenders and is totally rad. I really like the rear fenders on the 803 chopped (chevy?) coupe. They appear to be cut, but the builder kept the flair (this is pretty much what we have in mind).

    First off, KILLER CAR!!!!

I'll throw in my $0.02 on this one. I think Pic # 17 would look pretty good in regards to rear fenders.

Here's a rear shot of Christ Ito's '32 3W, of which I am in love with!

I agree. The chevy in picture 17 I feel has pretty cool proportions and retained the lines in the rear fenders

If its any help, these fenders are bobbed about 4 1/2", no flare but rounded off similar to stock and a new wire edge installed.

Those look good Canuck. All the photos I can get are helpful. I don't want to trash a decent pair of fenders.

  13. You have excelant vision of how sixties hot rods should look. It looks like the "Freaken A" is going to make up for your dads A gasser project that never got off the ground a few years ago.

Reminds me of the little A coupe I had in high school. Of course mine wouldn't have held a candle to yours performance wise as it was powered by a little '47 flathead out of my grandpa's old school bus. Yours will kick ass when it's done and I can't wait to see how it will go together.

I hope so. I believe we sold that body about the same time my brother bought this car. The fenders on the Freakin' A are the set from the other coupe.

Now that the Chevelle is out of the garage and in storage, we can finally start grinding and cutting on the coupe.

We started with the rear fenders. I gotta hand it to my dad, who had the vision on how to make the graft happen. We are both really happy with how it looks so far. We also messed around with different wheel/tire combos. These are the street wheels off my Henry J. We both think these look way better than the other wrinkle walls and mags.

Here is a shot of the ugly to show where cuts and welds were needed. I blended the welds out and hammer and dollied the flairs to smooth the shape of them.

These fenders looked great until we started working on them. They were worked over pretty good once upon a time and the drivers side fender was full of brazing. I still have some more work with the hammer and dolly to further refine the shape and match them just a little better.

After a lot of grinding and hammering.

  29. This project is too cool! I have been yearning to see a fully fendered A coupe built gasser style but done right. I know you guys will get it right. I look forward to following along!
