Made this thing a couple years ago and thought someone might get some use out of it.

could be easily adapted to most motors too.

not much to it but it sure works great and easily adjusts to level things up and isnt in the way of anything.

I was just trying to come up with a way to hold my engine in place during mock-up. Brilliant...gonna steal it and build one!

  12. I have a couple of pieces of 3/8 bar stock that bolt on like a Hurst mount; but they
are going to get some adjusters like yours welded on next time I use them.
I always though it was good to have the engine weight on the chassis when setting things up.

    Thanks for the great idea.

    Thanks!

No patent needed as its yours to copy if you need it, however if someone starts selling them I'll be a bit pissed haha.

having the weight on the chassis is always a good idea as it saves you from that "well it fit before" crap.

also when you place the jackstands under the axle it loads the front spring taking a lot of guess work when mounting the steering box.

that is a way cool idea.... cheap and effective

  18. way cool! How about if the mounting tabs were welded unto next size larger tubing so they could adjust sideways. a nut could be welded to the tube to lock it in place. just thinking out loud here........................

that would work and you could use the same idea to make it adjustable for total width to fit other frames.

but honestly it takes all of 15 minutes and a some scraps to make one, so when I need one to fit something else I'll just throw another together.

    Great idea, Tinman,
I'll be using one shortly when I go to mount my finished flathead in my modified roadster. Will probably use a second one to use near the mount under the tranny tail shaft.
    Thanks, Ted

Clever...Not 100% certain on how to incorporate that idea in my next starter motor, heater blower or wiper motor installation...But clever none the less.

  22. Damn it now I got to build a new tool. I have been using a bottle jack under the crank snout all these years and wrestling.

    Cool tool.

I liked the idea so much I built my own this morning! Tomorrow I'll pick up a couple of 1/2" carriage bolts to replace the hex bolts on the legs.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll bolt the engine and trans back together this weekend and can try it out. :)
Funny thing is just last week I was trying to come up with a way to hold the engine in place while I trim and fit my Welder Series engine mounts. Everything I came up with went under the engine and involved some convoluted fabrication. Never thought about going up! You, sir, are a genius!
