Here is my next project! Just got this 61 2-door wagon, super hard to find! This thing is in awesome shape with no rust, california desert car. I am going to put in also a rare 62 Ford 406 engine with C6 trans, putting on disk brakes all around, power steering, hydro boost, Vintage Air ac, put on some big wheels and lower it!! Should be a great family cruzer!!

Wow, never seen a 61 tudor ranch wagon. What a great plan, all except big wheels. I know it is your car, but anything over 16" is a street rod to me. Not that you care what I think. I try to overlook this big wheel feature on cars to not insult the builder, But big wheels just take some cool cars out of the traditional realm into la la land for a lot of us. So thats my 3 cents. Great find and best wishes for this awesome rare bird. ~sololobo~

  5. Great looking wagon. How about some steel wheels and stock small hub caps. Maybe???????

That's a rare wagon for sure. Only 12,042 2dr Ranch wagons were built in 1961.

Just for reference, here is what the 61 2dr sedan I use to own looked like. It had a 390 with 3x2's and Cruisomatic. The white painted reversed wheels with poverty caps set the car off.

  9. Love the early '60s Ford wagons! That 2dr is a rare one, indeed.

Cool Project. LMAO Though. I realized pretty quick that certain parts of our plans have to be left out so as to not disturb some members. Not very accepting if you plan on deviating outside that box.

No. The 406 block is cast using internal cores specific to allow the 4.13" bore. To be able to overbore a 390 from 4.05 to 4.13 requires a block with unusually thick cylinder walls and unusually little core shift. This includes the truck 391FT blocks. Been there, tried that.

I wouldn't waste any time on that turd if I were you....
Let me know if you loose interest and want to get rid of it.

Awesome car...I have been looking for one like that for many moons.

Steel wheels or vintage 5 spokes work well around here.... but it is your car...

  15. Kool Kar!

Too bad you're gonna ruin it with big fuckin' wheels and lowering it!

Looks like someone forgot that this is a "traditional" forum!

What's next hydraulics and big speakers??????????????

  18. Nice project.

    I like the 406 too.

  19. Love the 2 door wagons.

Is 61 the last year for those?

You could build a "What If " by adding a 1960 Edsel front end sheet metal and taillights and making it a 61 Edsel wagon.

Just a dumb thought.Keep it as is.Its already cool :D

That would match my Galaxie perfect.

Dang! I guess I should explain my wheel package. Thinking 17 or 18" steelies or Americans, I found some pics of some wagons, and I really like the yellow one, he has 18s and 20s, but I like a little more tire than that, the red one is nice, but not for me. GEEEZZZ some of you guys need to relax!

A 406 FE sounds pretty damn traditional to me...He Could put a 302 in it like everyone else...He could be like some dumb shits and put in a chevy mill and really fuck things up...But no,He's breaking some tradition cause he likes it low with big wheels???????

  29. great car and good plan what to do with. I dont like big wheels to, but even worser are the hamb conversations about it twice a day

Ditch the big wheels for this site. 1000's of other web pages for the 'in crowd'.
