If someone goes to central Illinois dragway, there are several good video's, one is of my delivery, on a time run.
I'm looking for photos of 55 Chevy Delivery Paint schemes for late 50's to late 60's Junior Stock Drag cars. I'm considering a recreation of some sort and want something to base it on. If anyone can send me some photos please send to: [email protected]
I was going through some old posts and came across this one. I remember seeing nothing but tail lights when I ran against this car back in the day. This was quite the car.
Bob Dwyer built & drove the 55 Studebaker called Crockagator along with Weeks & Desmore, our 59 Biscayne K/S used to have to race them every week for the junior stock trophy in the 66-69 era & got beat most of the time. Years later Bob showed me why. Dempsy Hardy came along later & drove the car or possably bought into it right at the end of the junior stock era. Our team had broken up by then & Jim Soucy bought a new 69 Cobrajet Mustang to race so I worked with him on that
What a beautiful White Whale! F/SA and I thought that was reserved for Chevelles, GTO, Road Runners etc... What year was this taken?
To be honest not really sure how they got so big. Those were taken 2 weeks ago at Central Illinois Dragway in Havana Illinois.
This SD in F/SA would have been classed there in 1965 Rules! 270HP 283 -- the 270 sedans ran E/S that year. In 66 the classes dropped and this car would then been G/SA. Great looking Nostalgia tribute car!! Thanks for the pix!!
Jack also owned an Arco gas station on Street road in Feasterville pa. around that time too. Maybe a bit later. I remember watching his greet fairlane at Atco with my Dad and even making up a plaque with a picture of his car and gave it to him as a fan back then. Its funny now I live 10 minutes from Lucas Ford now and 5 minutes from his old Arco station back then. Hiya Paul, Just realized this is a dated post, but oh well. I just dug out a couple of old pictures, and a time slip from my 1966 "D" Dart. The times were 13.2 with the altitude correction at over 5300 feet in Colorado, and I hadn't weight stripped the car yet as I drove it daily on the streets. Also I had geared iy with 4:11's rather than 4:86s which would have helped a bunch too. This car I converted to D Dart specs, and I had lots of fun with it. Wish I still had it. I ran it at Mile High Raceways, Continental Divide Raceways, and Bandameir Raceway, both NHRA, and AHRA. I thought it was produced by Dodge to go head to head with the 1957 injected 283 at the time. I was happy to have at least found the pictures. This looks like a great forum, and I found it by chance. Thanks, Gary
