Crazy hot rodders playing tricks on you! Everyone knows Willys came with a blown Hemi, hole in the hood, bucket seats and shiny wheels with racing tires. Sheesh, what will they come up with next?

I have always wanted to see one as a kustom. That's the first stock coupe I think I have ever seen.

I went to a local cruise spot and an old dude, in his 80's, brought a stock Willys, or so I thought. He popped the hood and there was a Hemi. I heard he also owns 16 real Cobras.

  24. hard to think there could still have been a stocker around.

Seriously? Kind of hard to believe. At a certain point, it just gets ridiculous.

Thank god no one screwed with this amazing ride and turned it into a stupid gasser. Hope they never do!

  30. Wow, I haven't seen that thing in 15 years... That Willys used to be owned by a friend by the name of Dexter Bennett. I was just getting started in the race car fab business, and Dex had a Pontiac Tempest drag car I REALLY wanted to do some work on; but he was tied in with another shop, so he brought that Willys over instead for some exhaust and trim work. Apparently he was impressed, because 2 weeks later the Pontiac was in the shop for some major refurbishing. The Pontiac needed a LOT of work, and he had to sell the Willys to pay the final bill!

I guess you could say that gray Willys was my start in the hot rodding business... Dexter isn't with us anymore, but I still thank him for taking a chance on me...
