Even with the adaptors, they arent a good fit on a 57. I have a straight axle, moved 4" forward with the nose up and still can't run a tall tire. Maybe the 55-56 is a little different.

my 55-57 tri five headers fit fine? my motor prolly dont set as far back as a ford either...J.Barrett youve got a great start "i like it alot!" big block and a four speed is deff a great choice if you can do a five speed be even better! keep it as affordable, streetable, driveable, & you will have a blast!

an update on my fuel milage isnt bad concidering two 1050 dominators on a blown 468 8lbs boost on pump gas with 4.11's! drove it 50 miles round trip on the xpressway few weeks ago (shoulda seen the looks i got!)WOW! took a buddy for a ride and blasted it bout 4 times one that i stretched it out top of third gear... took it to the station the next day and put 10 gallons in the tank to top it off!I'm very happy with that!!!I got some vids 1 goin across the bridge downtown Louisville,ky if i could figure out how to post it up i will?

  4. Cool! Got any shots with the front end on?

Theres a guy here in Central Illinois that has a 56 Ford 2 dr Hard top Gasser project for sale, it has a straight axle, 460 with C-6 trans. 9" rear with long ladder bars, the car needs finished, (mainly just body work) he said he would take 2500.00 for it, I looked at it, it's a good car for the guy that has the talent to finish it.

  16. I had the good fortune to get invited out to the Shakers Reunion in Windsor this past summer and had a blast....this 57 Ford was one of the club members ride which he owned back in the late 60's (Dixion Brothers).

This car looks even better in person....ya can't beat an injected SOHC.....lol.

Hey guys, been gone for a while, but back now...and back to work on my own gasser.

Not sure if pictures of this "shelf find" '55 Ford Gasser ever made it onto this thread, but this thing is amazing! More info can be found on the dedicated thread here:

Mine still has a long way to go. Getting ready to put in a third set of springs, this time with ball joints spacers. Hopping to bring that front end up at least 2.5" Also modifying a pair of truck Y block fenderwell headers...head to stretch them about 2 inches to clear the frame.

Currently, front end is back up on blocks, all sheet metal pulled, and suspensions stripped off - again. Crossing fingers for success.

I salivated all over my keyboard when this car was first posted. Would love to build one or snag an authentic '60s warrior like this one to bring back to life.

I've finally had a chance to start working on the car again this past fall/winter and it now has new passenger side inner/outer rocker, floor braces, and floor panels. Now I just have the driver's side to do, it shouldn't take as long this time.
