Take a look at all the Ferrari Barchetta-inspired specials of the late '50s. Many were based on Austin 7s and MG Midgets and Ford 10s and such. Come to think of it, how about a solid front axle under that 'Vette?

  2. Holy crap! Boy, do I feel like a slacker. Well...you got my full attention. Do it!!

  3. Well I'll try and check in once in awhile. The jury is still out but I have no reason to be negative about it at all. Be glad to see where this leads.

BTW someone mentioned being a slacker or lazy? I don't build customs because I am all of the above.

I had to borrow this photo from Forgotten Fiberglass. It's the Victress that was at Milwaukee Masterpiece a while back. One of the best looking designs I have seen out of the 50's or 60's.
The article and more photos are here for inspiration. http://www.forgottenfiberglass.com/?p=16277

Simca Comete-inspired would be my choice. High headlights and an eggcrate grille.

But then I'd be tempted to also run a Y-block.

I've wanted to tale a c-4 and strip it to bare minimum and build a 60's show car--bubble top maybe--this will be good to watch

Put the roof from the Cheetah on the Lister, but keep the roof line low. Someone photoshop this.

All your idea's are great ................but remember i'm 6'7" tall and this will be street driven. This car will be scaled up to make this happen. It will be built in the "style" of these cars and will not be a replica/copy of any of them.

The discussion of a sawn-off Corvette begins in post #115, and continues for a bit. I'm very interested in your project, and look forward to its development.

I presume you're familiar with the Scaglietti Corvette coupes, which were a pre-Cobra attempt by Shelby to do a lightweight aluminum Vette?

That's Ken Miles' "Flying Shingle" MG special. In its day (early-mid '50s) it was virtually unbeatable in its class. Miles, of course, went on to become one of the principal creators of the Shelby Cobra.

It's interesting how much love there is around here for the Cheetahs. In their day they were wicked fast, but relatively unstable, and very few people were ever able to drive them fast enough (or straight enough) to win races.

Just be sure to lose the Vette windshield. That is a tell-tale of what lies beneath.
