I also made it out this AM, but left just after lunch. I'm too lazy to post any pix, but soon. Lots of interesting cars and characters. If you missed it, you really missed it. Gary
Had a blast and even picked up a couple of parts for my 54 chevy pickup.... I will have it there next time
Sorry if I mess up, went to the Sabres/Lightning hockey game last evening and the drags all day today--I'm beat.
Thanks again Alan! That's got to be about as much fun as a guy can have with his pants on. Glad you got to enjoy a quick ride on the monster too, I already can't wait for next year!!
Yesterday is a day I'll remember for the rest of my life. Had a great time, didn't hurt anything major on the car and kept it off the wall. We broke the little brass pipe that holds my oil pressure sensor, but a trip to the local Ace Hardware and some help from some very nice racers parked next to us got it fixed pretty quick. Alan from Billetproof knows how to put on a terrific event and should take a bow for turning out one more. Didn't see any drama anywhere, just a bunch of very nice guys and gals having good old fashioned fun. The only problem is, this racing stuff is addictive, makes you want to build something even faster for next year ! Don
Don your hot rod looked sweet going down the track !! and you had a grin every time i seen ya... Dave
Don, we were parked next to you guys wit the dog, the car looked great going down the track i have some videos ill post up shortly <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/73wc7_eJqB8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Dg_hYLlWTDE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Man, had a great time out in the track. Made couple passes on The Chief Poncho, boy was that fun! Next year taking the Olds out fo sho. Don you looked like a kid in a candy store. FUN!!!
What a great day! Great weather, great friends, great cars. Some amazing cars there, some way too pretty to be as fast as they were...
Awesome time! Best one yet! The Bad Penny ran better this year, but I still have some bugs to work out.... Great seeing everyone!!!
Man, I wish I would have known who all you guys were. I knew there were a lot of guys from the HAMB on there, but had no way of knowing who was who. Jon in the Bad Penny talked to me (thanks for the offer of the helmet bud) and Troy was talking with us too. Didn't know you guys next to us were HAMBers though. The day was kind of a fog for me anyway...........I hadn't been down a strip since 1978 so I was a little intimidated (Like scared to death intimidated ) I had also never really had my 27 wide open except for short bursts in the 23 years I have had it and that 1/8 mile sure looked very long! Even though I had no traction in 1st and not for long in 2nd, I had a blast. I was too focused to even look down at my tach so I just shifted by sounds. My Sons GF used my camera to take some videos, but I had it on the wrong size, so they came out a little grainy. Here is one we were able to salvage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwVJRrX2vj4 Don
^^ Man I was lined up next to you twice yesterday in the waiting line. I was the one on the ridiculous V-Twin mini bike. Both times I told myself to go find you afterwards to tell you just how gorgeous I think your hot rod is and then both times (I can only assume) the rush of the race completely wiped that thought from my head. After crossing the finish line, like a kid at Disney, my only thought left was "I wanna go again!" Anyway, I'll have to find you at the next one.... and that's a BEAUTIFUL car! There, I remembered to say it!
Ah, I LOVED your minibike and you must have brass ones to drive it ! That thing is wicked. I just sold the minibike I built last winter with only a 6.5 hp HF motor because after going around the block I realized I am not 12 anymore and going over the handlebars would not be as soft of a landing as it was back then. Thanks for the compliments on my T, just an old hot rod with a bunch of flaws, but it is fun. I have got to start being better about recognizing the people around me at events like this. Have to figure out a way to know if any of them are the guys I enjoy shooting the breeze with on the forums. Wish you and I had a chance to talk. Don BTW, is the guy who ran the red oxide 33/34 Ford coupe NADS on here? I thought I recognized him and wanted to go up and say hi, but missed seeing him again. Cool coupe and I love the fat chicks painted on the rear.
