Earlier and later Gold Cup boats. Scotty has an original Packard Gold Cup six in it; It's A Wonder has a Wright/Hispano-Suiza.
Scotty's cool too! What about the Baby Bootlegger? Anyone remember that boat? It looks a lot like Scotty. I still have the issue of Connoisseur that it was featured in. Wish I had a scanner.
WOW...thanks for sharing those, Cris!! Where are those boats? I see the NH reg, are those in a private collection, or can the public see them?
I think Scotty may be the best looking boat I've ever seen. It looks like a mammoth version of my boat.
Beautiful old wooden boats!! Fountain thought they had something new a few year back with 'stepped hulls',I think they were about 60 years late! ROY.
All the boats I posted are privately owned by a variety of people. The only real public collection of raceboats is at the museum in Clayton, NY and it is terrific. El Lagarto is at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. You can see Scotty and It's a Wonder along with a bunch of other boats this coming weekend in on Lake Winnipesaukee, Wolfeboro, NH at the Race Boat Regatta. Scotty is a great looking boat, similar to Bootlegger in aerodynamic concept but unfortunately different in execution. Scotty just never worked right, no matter how many people tried correcting the boat's issues. It's a tremendous and mostly original relic but ultimately more of a conversation piece than an icon. It has spent its entire life on Winnepesaukee. The boat that came after itScotty Tooon the other hand, is a very capable boat. A bit more traditional in appearance but very effective. Impshi and Hornet, the two other boats I posted, were built and are owned by the guy that found/restored/owned Baby Bootlegger. He actually just finished a copy of Scotty Too for someone up on the lake and they figure that boat will be good for around 70 mph (powered by one of those Hissos.) Alsancle, you're boat's always fascinated me how much it looks like Scotty. Cris

Sinister thanks for posting the pictures of the Hydros. What a thrill ride they would be. And to the earlier posting of the newspaper clipping I think one of the Guy Lombardo race boats is still in a museum in London, Ontario, Canada.
