Features VINTAGE SPRINT CAR PIC THREAD, 1965 and older only please.

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Joshua Shaw, Jan 17, 2008.

  1. I have just found a 1925 Dodge front axle . I heard several builders used them for sprint/champ car front axles in the 50-60s. Any truth to that?

    How would I go about getting the kingpin bosses angled right?

    Bobby Marvin is listed as the owner of the #76 B&J Spl. in the 1962 USAC sprint car standings.

    RIP Dan Wheldon... 2 time winner of the 500. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

    Of coarse this will open the flood gates for the News, and IGNORANT General media to speak of "What needs to be done about this", Safety changes, and WORSE of all.. SPEED RESTRICTIONS. I will take this ONE post to say:

    "It's sad, and I feel for those close to it. Let's all bow our heads, agree that it sucks, and Move On."

    This forum IS NOT the place for any in depth discussion on current events in Motorsports. Indiana Open Wheel and MANY others are the place for that.

    Feel free to post any well wishes for his family, and show your sorrow.. But I think we will all agree to keep this Thread on track.

    Thank you all.

    I hope this shot can help get things back on track. This was a couple years ago at a vintage event, Manzanita or Perris, I can't remember which.
    Keep on posting
    Thanks

    Van Johnson, in the Sam Traylor 55, pitches it into the corner at Reading 1957.

    Looked as if Mc Clusky was checking the clearance of the left rear to the radius rod or the LONG exhaust pipe.

    Didn't the Beal car go from Marvin to Don Gillette? Not the car he was killed in, but an earlier one.

    I have for it:

    1951 #58 Earl Beal
    1952 #2 Earl Beal
    1953 #83 Earl Beal
    1954 #19 Earl Beal => Sam Traylor
    1955 #5 Sam Traylor
    1956 #9 Sam Traylor
    1957 #2 Sam Traylor
    1958 #3 Sam Traylor
    1959 #1 Sam Traylor
    1960 #6 Doug Stearly
    1961 ?
    1962 #76 Bobby Marvin
    1963 ? Bobby Marvin => Don Gillette
    1964 ? Don Gillette
