One of the truly great sprint car drivers, Johnny Thomson at Wms. Grove. Traylor mechanic, Carl Nosal works on the injectors.

Once again, thanks for posting these photos of my heroes!

Is the Thomson shot from 1957?

I also didn`t know Eddie Sachs drove for Traylor.

The photo of Thomson is a 1957 photo. Sachs drove for Traylor occasionally, he usually drove the immaculate Bill Cheesman Offy.

    No.

According to a Traylor Team handout from Latimore several years ago,one of the sister cars become the Lowther #2.

The Lowther car was the #9 car from 1954 and #1 in 1955.

The car Johnny drove in 1957 is unaccounted for at this time,no one knows what happened to it after 1960.

:rolleyes:On another note, since I am "Vintage sprint car,1969 and older", I think I can tell you guys I had a little fun last nite. The guys got my 410 Winged sprinter ready and we ventured to Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway to participate in the last show of the year.A hot lap incident:eek:(I bumped the turn 3 wall), a heat race motor issue,:confused:and a completed feature were the results.:p Yea,we were in the back, but we got faster as the race went on,and felt physically good as the race progressed. The old "Kistler 410" felt good, still and We hope tp do this again, lots of times next year!:DJohn S.

    Man,

Do you have the good stuff!

The #2 Traylor, I guess 1957 or1958-They call that one "the New Car".

This one is said to be in a private collection under restoration as of several yrs ago.

I sure hope some of my fellow vintage sprint car fans are enjoying these photos!

  19. additional news as to post 1960.
car was driven in '62 by Bobby Marvin as "B & J Spl". after being directed to a Gary Woodbury in Union City, Oh, he verified that his father owned the car & that when bought, it was stated it was the Beal car. he was not sure as to Marvin's connection, as he thought his father left Marvin drive the car for a while.
he said father later sold car to a Gene Petro of Dayton or columbus.
he knew of a Dick Pratt driving the car, & that he put a cage on & put in a Chev. engine.
Steve E, gave me names of a D. Hodson & Brent Whited. spoke to Whited, says he drove car & that it was reputed to be the Beal car. last he knew, car was parted out
& frame went to Mich. he also stated he had pix but I never got any.
however, Woodbury did have pix & sent me 3 or 4, will post when I find them.
the trail ends there for now. I feel there is evidence somewhere there in Ohio or Indiana, but my being in Penna. is a problem.

I found this Langhorne Speedway Newsletter ( April 1958 ) among some of dad's things. He would have been about 18 years old when it was mailed to him, the back cover has my grandmothers address on it. Any of you guy's remember when Langhorne sent these out to race fans? I hope you'll enjoy the next 6 posts. :D

  29. Did this car run out of Houston? I have just come accross a car that fits this description in Oklahoma. Have yet to see it. The car is blue down here.
