Cars like Ohio Georges might have helped kill the class, but it was already sick when he ran it. Notice the roadster in the other lane? Supercharged Gas Coupes and Sedans had already been consolidated with Street Roadsters then. And most of the spectators considered the late model Gassers slow FunnyCars.

Well put, the class lost it's identity and people lost interest. Didn't have anything to do with a car not running a Hemi, Shores and Hess ran a Rat motor quite successfully and there were other teams running Fords and Chevys including some very successful small blocks.

Sherm Gunn ran this huge car regularly in So-Cal AA/GS. While it was getting a bit outdated because everyone else resorted to late model bodied, center drive cheater cars, he still managed to qualify for weekly 8 car shows. On a good day, he could coax the BBC into the high 8's in 1970.

Sorry, not a gasser. Gassers got fenders. But it is a badass fuel coupe.

  11. I love all gassers! But if my arm were twisted; Barb Hamilton. Watched her run a Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio in the 60's. As to current nostalgia cars; Don Moyer's Rebel Reaper. Both great people. Aaron Dupont

  12. 7 pages and not one Henry J so far? Here's my completely biased favorite and current project car, running somewhere in Ca in the early 70s I think, a member sent me the pics, its currently undergoing a resurrection in my garage. I'm still hunting down info on the car if anyone has any.

My favorite Gasser was my old 61 Falcon that looked like this one last time I saw it was in Camrillo California in 1980.

  24. This is my favorite. This is the original Ron Bizio '33 Willys car with chassis built by Chuck Finders. It's currently owned and raced by a guy I know and race with.

I'm pretty sure Pluger updated the Bizio chassis after the Chuck Finders Tall Texan days.
