how can i lower my 1956 international s120?

just trying to see if any one has lowered there international? if so do you have any pics of ur work ?

Flipping the axles will drop them. Search the link above and another one about flipping a solid front axle - an F100 thread I think. Remember, you don't actually flip the axle, your just put the springs under the axle instead of the stock spring over axle setup. Watch out for steering and oil pan issues.

I have a 67 1200b 2wd.

 

I personally would not flip a front axle. Anything you do in the front will cause issues with bump steer and pinion arm issues.
Nobody makes dropped axles for these old trucks unfortunately.

The back is easy. You can flip the spring perches if you want, but you'll have to cut into your bed a little for clearance.

You can also have the factory springs de-arched 3". That's what I did on my '51 L110. On my '54 I'm going full MII and airbags to give it an extreme drop when parked.

I wouldn't. Too narrow and you'll have to hack the crap out of the body to make it work. If you are a cheapskate I would recommend buying a rotted out 70s-80s era Jag and using the front clip off of that.

It is plenty beefy and the clip can slide over your existing frame. The back should be plenty easy to lower. Get an axle out of your favorite type of car and mount the springs under the axle.

 

im trying to find somthing with a 350 in it and a frame that i can put the 56 body on

 

im going to get a g body and use some on my frame in it like a olds do the same this guy did then cut out the sides

 

Buy yourself a good sawzall cause you going to be cutting it up to get it on that frame.

 

the only thing i may have to do is make the box smaller or if i get the 83 cutlass then i have to raz the box up 4 inch

I was reading this thread from awhile back and have a 1956 s120 as yours and want to lower it. This is al new to me and I think I understand your method but had a couple questions. Is your truck still a 4 wheel drive with the original engine. I was under the truck last night trying to figure out the front. Did you have any issues with steering linkage. Thanks for the information.

Hi John,

My truck was always a 2 wheel drive, so it was pretty straight forward. The steering linkage didn't change much. Not sure about a 4 wheel drive front axle. Haven't ever seen that setup on our trucks.

LoL thanks guys . What i ended up doing was taking a 82 cutlass car took the body off the car and did frame work and but my 56 international body on the cutlass gbody frame.worked great

 

do it the old school way, throw a few cement bags in the truck.

 

lol didnt have a box floor when i got the truck lol

56 is done. i lowered the truck by placing a 82 cutlass frame under the truck. nows shes my daily driver .

Looks good I did one a couple of years ago, I got a KB frount axle which has a 4" drop from the factory. Yours turned out looking good.
