I'm pretty sure the doors on that Plum 55 are the ones from the Two Lane Blacktop movie car. They were separated from the car a long time ago. Walt Bailey now has them on his TLB 55 that he restored. I saw pics of it years ago. The TLB 55 he has was also found in Canada dressed up in Black looking like the American Graffiti 55. Kinda neat it was all found in time before it was all lost. You can read up on it on the TLB website :D

Here are a couple 55 gassers that I saw at the 2011 HCPU. Some real nice machines.

I love that car thanks for posting it. I was actually thinking about this picture today. I just kind of find it funny that the TLB Camera Car doors some how made there way to London, Ontario Canada. That is a huge distance for thesse doors to travel???

It looks like the whole TLB car went to Canada and then the doors were taken off and put on the Plum Wild car.
Thats a cool pic and even better having the dial in on the window for us to see!

Beautiful 55 Ric, your brother can be very proud of that car! The Muros did an awesome job with that car - as usual. Great seeing you past weekend and hopefully I'll have my 55 at the 3rd Annual Gasser Roundup! Vic

just got my 55 gasser type build on the road. Used torque thrusts.10X15 with 3.5 back spacing. 10.5x29.5 mt slicks. How to do wheel wells(1) set car on jacks to establish ride height. (2) Figure radius of wheel and tire set up(center to outside dia.) add two inches to get total radius needed.(3) I used a yard stick instead of string. Here's weird part. I had a strong magnet with a car type attena attached to it. sold at Harbor freight to assist backing up trailer to towing hitch. Anyway drilled hole slightly smaller that attena width. jammed attena through wooden yard stick. messure out from attenna hole to you new radius slightly smaller than sharpie marker. (4) Had friend hold attenna magnet firmly to axle center and swung yard stick around wheel well slowly and drew a perfect circle. (5) fired up grinding wheel with cutting wheel and started slowly going around my mark. Took like three passes to cut all the way through. Looked like I really knew what I was doing.lol.Had no molding to worry about on my car.(6) Bought some 3/8ths round rod and made a reference at top of circle and on rod. Started to work rod around a 55 gallon barell and came out with a pretty nice bend.(7)When looking good I rounded up all the vise clamps I could find and started clamping rod to sheet metal and started tack welding around edge, working back and forth to avoid warpage.(8) finally mounted up wheels and a perfect fit. I'm finishing up quarter panels and will fill around rod with plastic filler and finish off. I enclosed some photos right after and some of the car on the road. hope this helps. Not to hard to do, Just take you time and don't rush.Yruhot.........Doug

If your car is shown in public, they can use it - something about public domain. I see pix of my Willys in different publications and articles. Just enjoy the publicity you're getting with the car.

The red 57 is my brother's car. 383 small block, 4.56 gear, 4-speed. Best pass was 11.97. The wheel standing 55 is a guy that runs at Englishtown. Steve Valeries (sp) is his name I believe. Hope you like.

The doors on that car were from the TLB #2 camera car. They are now back on the TLB car.
