Hey Ryan, was showing this to my Dad earlier today (not sure how i have missed this thread in the past?) and he was wondering if that panel in the background is one he got for your Dad a few years back (when my Dad says a few years back think mybe 30...) it is the white with the red and green stripes, off possibly Don Elliotts old Camaro rac car???

Oh yeah, your 32, sweet. spot on. perfect. i dont think there is anything else i could say that hasnt already been said!

Now. How'd you get all those bolts undone without cutting the wire? That's pretty clever.

  9. And now for my next trick....

Amazing trick on those bolts undoing.

Ryan - You need to take a leaf out of Lowsquires Bones Strengthening Handbook....... this is what he did for my ride.

  13. Jeez do you really wanna follow that up?

Makes my damage an easy fix, I made a synchro block dissappear and then reappear at the bottom of the box half its size and chipped a tooth off the input shaft and that happened just driving up there.....

  14. Too much mondo HP/TQ for the firebreathin flathead !!

    Rat

  15. I don't think those wafer thin pressed steel wishbones are much cop, but it was being used & abused at Chopped - nice work

Im not thinkin the bones were the problem,or at least the main problem, the torque tube bolts coming out seems to be the problem, were they not long enough? the wishbones are just to suport the rear end, the torque tube takes all the torque hence the name. seems like the bolts pulled out and then messed up the bones.

    Yep.

Did the threads in the centersection just strip straight out?

  20. yep pulled the threads straight out!

  21. The bolt's were factory ones with plenty of length also when I checked another '32 rear the bones had been welded up in the same spot were mine broke.
This made be think the bones went first.

  22. Well the '36 rear is great with the heavy bones! I have been driving hard and broke an axle key the other day. Lucky both the hub and axle were in great shape so I lapped them in again and used shaft Loctite on the taper for a better grab. Back to driving the wheels off of it!!
