Oh! I forgot a very important part of making this mold! The pattern needs to be sprayed with a pattern release spray, or you will never get the pattern out!

And also after the first half sets up it to needs to be sprayed so the halts can part.

I like what you've done here. I liked it before too. It's your car, and only you know how to make it the way you want. Good work!

Whoa! Wicked coupe! Gonna be ready for B'ville this year right? Can't wait to see it done and the brush paint applied.
That casting stuff is rad! Love that old school tech stuff.

Sorry it's been so long. We got back from Vegas last night and have some free time today. Thought I would post what pictures I have of the casting project and the top. Now this happens every time I get close to a dead line, I just start working and don't take any pictures! This is what I have.

Lets start out with finishing up casting that spacer.

So this is the core box ready to make a core.

Filled the core box up with sand to see how much I was going to need.

I think it was almost a pound? But put it in a ziplock bag and added about 3oz of "water glass" to it. That stuff is like syrup and it hardens up when you expose it to Co.

Now after it's all mixed up. Pack it in.

We used some mix welding gas to " gas" the core and get it hard. Then we baked all the moisture out of it in the microwave. Don't tell Kris' wife!

This is what the core looks like. I made 3 of them. You never get a good pore the first try! Haha

Time to put the name on the pattern.

Just used superglue to hold them on.

A little baby powder on the packing board to keep it from sticking.

    Packing in the pattern.

Now it needs parting dust so the two 1/2's will part.

All packed in. Time to see what we got!

    Clean it up a bit.

And we have a sand mold.

Clean up the core with a file.

    Test fit

Man, what an awsome build! At first I really liked it, then I saw your chop and was like sweet! Then you hacked it more and I was like WTF? Then as I looked at the progressing pics, it grew on me and I have to say it is bad ass! Nice job guys! And it is awesome you guys can actually build your own parts like that. That is awesome!
