So i'm bringing down my 59 Impala sport coupe from NM to AZ not too familiar with many shops out here at the moment but wanted to get some good advice on whats shops are recommended here in Phoenix. Preferably one that may have had experience with this model year before. This will be my first big project and needs plenty of work. I recently got in contact with a man named Sterling Allen, I believe he's from Mesa. He gave me a reasonable rate and said he can resto pretty much anything. I am leaning on going with him for this project but just wanted to know if anyone has ever dealt with him or know of his work and quality. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
These are from a while back, its been moved recently to another property but soon coming to AZ. Like I said it's rough but I am very optimistic on the project. Sorry no full pictures these are just focusing on the real bad sections. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/door.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/floor.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/floor.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/rearpost.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/roof2.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/roof.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/roofext.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10103181/seats.png
You got yourself a hell of a "project". Good luck with it. Let me know if you need anything and I might be able to help out. The photos show what I am starting with.
Awesome 59bones! Yea will do, i'm sure i'll have tons of questions regarding the build. Nice project you got yourself, is this it's current state or is it complete?
Here's my '59 starting point , looks like of work all around . Time to hunker down for some winter thrashing .
Nice! speedfreek, yea im looking forward on continuing my project just as soon as I bring it down to AZ. Keep me posted on the build!
Pheonix, if you were going to actually hop it up and not just restore it I'd go to Steve @ Industrial Chassis, He's El Polacko here on the HAMB. Outstanding work.
'59bones. What is that parked next to the car in the first picture? Is that a dodge challenger? I know its not hamb friendly but that would be a great score.
Hey zman thanks for the heads up on El Polacko i'll check him out. What do you mean by "hop it" though, I don't suppose you mean hydraulics?
resto means restore, as in return to stock, by hop up, I mean customize, hot rod, make it bad ass....
Hop it, been a long time lowrider as I have been rodder so terms get intermingled and interpreted differently . Definitely want some "Los" in the build (custom) but I would love to get it as original as possible. I love the look of classic wheels and interior, but the dropped body of an auto is that much more beautiful, most def custom on suspension, wheels possibly interchangeably to custom and stock. Who know at the moment just want the project to get to full speed so I can get this baby cruisng.
Can't help on who to go to, but i will say i've seen some of El Polacko's work on here and like it a lot. Cool project too. From what you've shown it's pretty much how my 62 started, and even sounds like our plans were the same. My Impala is essentially stock but with bags, different wheels and slightly custom interior..very slight. Looking forward to seeing your 59 come together! Make sure to post progress as you go Tony
